Wall Street managed a higher finish after some concerns about the beleaguered financial sector lifted late in the session.
Friday's session ended a week made turbulent not only by bad news from the financial sector but also by spiking commodity prices and hints from the Federal Reserve that it might be less generous with interest rate cuts in the coming months. A highly anticipated Labor Department report Friday showed employers added 166,000 jobs in October - the most in five months and nearly double what analysts expected - but didn't give stocks much of a lift a day after a sharp pullback as investors' unease about the financial sector blanketed trading.
Declining issues outnumbered advancers by about 6 to 5 on the New York Stock Exchange, where consolidated volume came to 4.18 billion shares, compared with 4.20 billion shares traded Thursday.
The Dow and the S&P 500 ended the week with losses, the Dow dropping 1.53 percent and the S&P off 1.67 percent. The Nasdaq managed a gain of 0.22 percent.
The US dollar traded mostly lower against other major currencies. The euro bought a record $1.4527 on Friday.
Oil prices rebounded on the New York Mercantile Exchange, after dropping sharply Thursday.
Copper fell, capping the biggest weekly loss in 11 weeks, as rising inventories spurred concern that demand may be dwindling.
Zinc prices in Shanghai plunged by the daily limit on signs demand is slowing for the metal used to galvanize steel. Inventories of zinc monitored by the London Metal Exchange surged 7.5 percent yesterday to a five-month high.
Gold rose 2 percent to close above $800 an ounce in New York on demand from investors seeking a haven from declines in the US dollar and U.S. assets. Silver also gained.

UPDATE ON ICON'S DRILLING PROGRAMME IN ATP 626P - SURAT BASIN
Natasha No.1 has reached a depth of 611 metres and has set 7 inch casing just above the first Walloon coal seam. Heavy rain has made working conditions difficult overnight and we expect to drill out of the casing shoe within the next twenty-four hours. The upper Walloon coal section of about 150 metres is to be drilled before electric logging, under reaming and testing commences. The well is on schedule and within budget. Further heavy rain is expected over the next few days and minor delays are expected because of this weather.
Stitch No.1 location has received further heavy rains over the last few days and the rig cannot be moved on to the location while the ground remains boggy and wet. We will need a few sunny days for the ground to dry out sufficiently to move the rig over the last three kilometres to the location.

GREENEARTH ENERGY LIMITED INITIAL PUBLIC OFFERING TO RAISE CAPITAL FOR GEOTHERMAL EXPLORATION IN VICTORIA
The Directors of Lakes Oil N.L. ("LKO") and Victoria Petroleum N.L. ("VPE") advise that Greenearth Energy Ltd has today lodged a Prospectus with ASIC and ASX for an initial public offering of $15 million of ordinary shares in Greenearth Energy Ltd ("GER") with the right to accept oversubscriptions for a further $5 million ordinary shares and with a minimum raising of $10 million.
Ordinary shares worth $8 million in Greenearth Energy Ltd will be made available in priority for applications from holders of ordinary shares in Lakes Oil N.L. and Victoria Petroleum N.L. as at the close of trading on 12 November 2007 on a non-specific entitlement basis.

Wall Street plunged Thursday, pulling the Dow Jones industrial average down more than 360 points as investors found themselves confronted by two uncomfortable prospects: an end to interest rate cuts and a slowing economy. A report from the Commerce Department indicated consumers scaled back their spending in September as worries mounted about a worsening housing market and further credit market turmoil. And a trade group reported that manufacturing in the U.S. grew in October at the weakest pace since March.
Declining issues outnumbered advancers by about 4 to 1 on the New York Stock Exchange, where consolidated volume came to 4.20 billion shares, compared to 3.84 billion shares on Wednesday.
Crude oil prices shot higher and then retreated Thursday, reaching a new record of $96 a barrel before concerns about the economy and France's decision to release oil from its strategic petroleum reserve motivated investors to cash in some of their recent gains.
Copper tumbled 3.2 percent, the most in 11 weeks, after rising inventories signaled weakening demand for the metal used in pipes and wires.
Zinc fell to a seven-week low as stockpiles of the metal rose for a seventh consecutive session.
Gold fell from the highest price since 1980 as the US dollar rebounded, reducing the appeal of the precious metal as an alternative investment. Silver also dropped.

High Grade Recovered From Gonzales Lode Ore
The Directors are pleased to report continued improvement in production at the Coyote Gold Project.
As announced on 22 October 2007, with the deepening of Pit 2 at Coyote, the top of the high grade Gonzales Lode has been exposed with high grade ore being mined. Treatment of this high grade Gonzales ore blended with ore from Pit 1, commenced 26 October 2007.
Since commencing treatment of the high grade ore, the plant assay results have been very pleasing with 3,225 tonnes of ore being treated up until 30 October 2007 at a head grade of 10.9g/t Au.
The Directors believe that this high grade is due to the Gonzales Lode ore and expect that final production for October 2007 will exceed the budget of 2,581 ounces which maintains the upward trend in production.
The majority of the Gonzales Lode will be mined from underground following development of the portal and decline which is on schedule to commence by the end of November 2007. - Web Site
COYOTE GOLD PROJECT UPDATE
Development of Underground on Target
The development of the Coyote Gold Project is progressing very well with the commencement of the underground portal and decline on schedule to commence within the next few weeks. Gold production has been steadily increasing in recent months as the main Coyote pit has deepened. A significant lift in gold production will be achieved when the much higher underground ore (+13g/t Au) is mined and treated following development of the underground mine over the next six to nine months. As the underground mine is developed, gold production will ramp up to a minimum 50,000 ounces per annum by June 2008 with a target production rate of 70,000 ounces per annum by June 2009.
Over $50m has been spent during the past eighteen months on establishing the treatment plant and mining the main open pit to its current level to enable access to the high grade underground ore.
The treatment plant is now fully operational with high recoveries being achieved and the major upgrade of three new leach tanks on schedule for completion by December 2007. In addition, a significant amount of open pit mining has been completed to date with the pit floor depth only 7.5 metres above the underground portal depth.
Installation of protection fencing for the portal, on the berm at 345mRL above the portal position, is underway. OXIANA'S PROMINENT HILL COPPER - GOLD PROJECT UPDATE
With less than 12 months to commissioning of the Prominent Hill copper-gold project a comprehensive review of costs and schedule has been undertaken. Scope changes, tight construction market conditions and cost increases in materials and equipment have resulted in a capital estimate increase of around 30%. Plant commissioning and first copper concentrate production is still expected to occur in the third quarter of 2008.
Buoyant market conditions and higher copper, gold and silver prices have significantly improved project economics since Board approval some 12 months ago, and the expected contribution of Prominent Hill to Oxiana's earnings and cash flows has increased substantially. Exploration success below and lateral to the current open pit has seen Oxiana already initiate studies aimed at expanding production and extending life of mine to at least 2030.
A major milestone was reached on 21st October when the top of the orebody was exposed some two months ahead of schedule.

AS FRONTIER ENHANCES ITS ‘SOCIAL LICENCE TO OPERATE’ IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA
Frontier is blazing a new trail of Social Responsibility and positive landowner engagement in Papua New Guinea.
The centrepiece of this policy will be a partnership between the Company and all deposit landowners, whereby they will become 5% equity partners in all mines developed on future Mining Leases derived from the Company’s Exploration Licences in PNG.
The 5% equity will be carried to production, with the landowners’ pro-rated capital expenditure to be repaid from their pro-rated mine profits. Mechanisms to accomplish this and other details are being investigated, but could be through the granting of equity in the holding company established specifically to own the Mining Lease and develop the deposit.
This policy is being implemented for altruistic and commercial reasons, in anticipation of a positive Conceptual Mining Study for the Kodu Deposit, that would likely lead to the commencement of a full Feasibility Study in early 2008.

Admiral Bay Drilling Update
Assay results for the fourth diamond hole, ABRD006, have now been received. This hole, drilled 500 metres to the west of SS15, intersected 19 metres at 6.6% zinc, 1.2% lead and 20 grams per tonne silver from 1,334 metres in the main zone, immediately followed by 21 metres at 4.0% lead, 1.4% zinc and 15 grams per tonne silver including 7 metres grading 7.2% lead, 0.9% zinc and 16 grams per tonne silver in the lead zone down to 1,374 metres. For comparative purposes, the 33 metre zone for which preliminary Niton results were announced on 24 September assayed 5.5% zinc, 1.1% lead and 20 grams per tonne silver.
Hole ABRD005, situated to the north of a line between SS15 and ABRD006 has also be completed. Preliminary Niton results for this hole using the same technique as announced previously for ABRD006 assayed approximately 4% zinc over a 17 metre interval. Final assays are expected in four weeks time.
A third hole, ABRD008, has also been completed and this has unexpectedly returned only low values and established the limit of this pod of mineralisation to the west. The remaining holes of the twelve hole program will now focus on defining the eastern extent of the mineralisation.

DE GREY REPORTS NEW HIGH GRADE VMS RESULTS FROM ORCHARD TANK AND DISCOVERY
De Grey Mining Limited (ASX code:DEG) is pleased to advise that first results have been received from a 2,332 metre RC drilling program recently completed at its Turner River Project, 60 kilometres south of Port Hedland. This drilling targeted the known volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) mineralisation at various prospects and has intersected zones of zinc-silver-lead-gold-copper mineralisation with best intersections at Orchard Tank of:
WARC076: 3m at 6.54% zinc, 206g/t silver, 2.62% lead, 1.82g/t gold and 0.17% copper from 57m
The following new intersections were drilled down dip of the known mineralisation to provide sample material for preliminary metallurgical testwork of oxide mineralisation.

Leyshon Resources Limited (“Leyshon”) (AIM & ASX: LRL) is pleased to announce that its major drill programme at the Zheng Guang gold zinc project in Heilongjiang, northeast China has been completed ahead of schedule.
The extended programme completed 109 diamond drill holes for 21,400 metres and 744 reverse circulation holes for 22,300 metres. The programme is expected to successfully upgrade the bulk of the 1.21 million ounces of gold, 3.72 million ounces of silver and 94,000 tonnes of zinc resource estimate to the Measured and Indicated category ahead of project development in 2008.
Mineralisation has been discovered on six out of seven of the geochemical anomalies tested across the licence area. These potential new deposits will be followed up in next year’s programme.
Diamond Drilling
The latest results are from six infill diamond drill holes on sections 49275, 49425, 49225 North and one from Zheng Guang South (ZGD194).
Hole ZGD194, the first diamond hole from the Zheng Guang South area, has reported good width near surface intersections. Previous results had been interpreted as narrow high grade, sub vertical veins; this result suggests that the veins in the area may in fact be broader or that a new structure has been intersected. Results from four other holes drilled in this area are awaited with some anticipation.
Results from the holes drilled on 49275 North all showed some continuity down dip and with good intersections, which is encouraging. The continuity in this key area is expected to be improved with further closing the spacing from 40 metres to 20 metres. Results from holes drilled in sections 49425 and 49225 North were very much in line with expectations.
Reverse Circulation Drilling
Further encouraging results were received from Reverse Circulation drilling at the Zheng Guang North deposit with the mineralisation continuing t o extend in all directions. Holes ZGR1605, ZGR1610 and ZGR1611 all reported excellent intersections including 8 metres at 17.6 g/t gold from 19 metres depth in ZGR1605.
The deposit located 750 metres to the north of the Main Ore Zone was discovered in last year’s drill programme and is showing good potential to be an immediate source of near surface oxide material .
ZGR1374 and ZGR1375 were drilled on the Zheng Guang East target confirming mineralisation in a gold anomaly that runs 500 metres from the Main Ore Zone.
A soil sampling program over the recently acquired 85 km2 exploration licence immediately adjacent to the Zheng Guang lease, has been completed and samples sent for assay. The results will assist in identifying drill targets for testing in next years programme. - Web Site

Santos today announced that it has acquired various assets in Bangladesh, including a 37.5% interest in the Sangu gas field and a portfolio of exploration acreage from Cairn Energy PLC.

Wall Street pulled back Tuesday as investors, uneasy about a drop in consumer confidence, traded cautiously ahead of the Federal Reserve's impending decision on interest rates.
Declining issues outnumbered advancers by about 5 to 3 on the New York Stock Exchange. Volume has been fairly light so far this week; consolidated volume came to 3.11 billion shares Tuesday, up from 3.02 billion Monday.
Oil futures retreated from record high levels Tuesday on word that Mexican oil production is returning to normal and on expectations that a government report will show crude supplies grew last week.
Zinc fell in London after stockpiles of the metal jumped to a five-week high. Most other metals also eased.

First Quarter Activities Report September 2007
Summary
UXA continued its third campaign of drilling on its South Australian exploration licences (ELs). In July 2007, three additional holes were drilled on EL 3431 - Griffen Well. In August 2007, one hole was drilled on EL 3429 - Prominent Hill South, under the auspices of the South Australian plan for accelerated exploration (PACE) drilling partnership initiative and a grant of $50,000 awarded to UXA in December 2006. In September 2007, a single hole was also drilled on EL 3430 - Playford. Details from these drill holes are presented below.
UXA has now successfully completed a total of 5,000 metres of a planned 20,000 metre drilling programme across its exploration licences in South Australia, Western Australia, Northern Territory and New South Wales.
UXA also completed numerous geophysical surveys across several of its tenements during this reporting period, for the purpose of identifying potential drilling targets. Detailed, ground-based gravity surveys were completed on EL 3428 - Roxby Downs West, EL 3432 - Winjabbie and EL 3470 - Glenside in South Australia. In addition, airborne radiometric and magnetic surveys were conducted across EL 36/546 - Yeelirrie South East and EL 52/1835 Angelo River North in Western Australia in August 2007, as well as across EL 24566 - Ngalia Thrust in the Northern Territory in October 2007.
A geological field investigation was completed on EL 36/546 - Yeelirrie South East in September 2007, to survey the tenement in support of a drilling programme to test for the presence of calcrete hosted uranium mineralisation. A field investigation was also undertaken for EL 52/1835 - Angelo River North in October 2007 but was terminated prematurely due to rugged terrain and limited access tracks.
UXA was granted four additional ELs in South Australia in July 2007. This increased UXA's total EL holding in South Australia to 7,367 square kilometres, positioning the company as the largest EL holder within 150 kilometres of BHPB's Olympic Dam Mine on the Stuart Shelf.
As a consequence of the strategic alliance agreement between UXA and Geoscience Associates Australia (GAA), UXA has learned that the first batch of third-generation prompt fission neutron (PFN) tools has been delivered to Australia in October 2007. All of the tools in this batch are to fulfil sales to exploration and mining companies for their own use. Tools to be included in future batches (November-December timeframe) are expected to be available for commercial use through GAA.
UXA's joint venture partner, Newcrest Operations Limited ("Newcrest"), has launched its exploration programme on EL 3494 - Oak Dam Northeast in South Australia. Newcrest completed the first phase of detailed gravity surveys across the entire EL as part of its minimum $3 million exploration expenditure across four years to earn 75% interest in the tenement. STRONG SUPPORT FOR CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT OF THE CIBALIUNG GOLD PROJECT
Austindo Resources Corporation NL ("ARX" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has successfully raised $17,657,276.34 from its Rights Issue which closed on Thursday 25 October 2007.
The Rights Issue was well supported with over one third of all shareholders participating demonstrating strong support for the Company’s strategy for the continued development of the Cibaliung Gold Project.
The Rights Issue take up can be summarised as follows:

The Rights Issue shortfall, post the partial underwriting, was limited to $1,035,298.10 or a shortfall of only 5.5%.
Together with the Placement effected on 24 September 2007 the Company has raised gross proceeds of A$19.9m which is expected to be sufficient to substantially advance the Company towards first gold production from the Cibaliung Gold Project in Indonesia.
The Rights Issue was structured as follows:
Shares and Options will be allotted to participating shareholders on Tuesday 29 October 2007. The allotment to sub-underwriters will be effected on Wednesday 30 October 2007.
The funds from the recent Placement and this Rights Issue will be used for working capital purposes and costs associated with the ongoing development of the Cibaliung Gold Project in Indonesia in which ARX has an 89.75% interest A portion of these funds may also be applied to near mine exploration at Cibaliung to enhance the resource and reserve base.
This capital raising is part of a continuing strategy to provide a strong financial base for ARX. As stated in the Rights Issue Prospectus, the Company will require further funding to complete the development of the Cibaliung Gold Project, produce positive cash flow and to fund further project and regional exploration. Following the success of the Rights Issue the Board will at an appropriate time in 2008 consider a further equity raising to complete its funding requirements.

UPDATE ON ICON'S DRILLING PROGRAMME IN ATP 626P - SURAT BASIN
Natasha No.1 commenced drilling 8 am on the 28th October 2007. Current depth is 60 metres and current operation on the well is cementing surface conductor pipe. The well is programmed to drill to a depth of 745 metres and is expected to take approximately 7 to 10 days.
Stitch No.1 location has received heavy rains over the past week and we are unable to get trucks in at present. As soon as the location and entrance road has dried sufficiently the rig will move in immediately. Originally, the rig was to be mobilised on Wednesday 31st October but this operation will now be delayed until the ground has dried sufficiently to take the heavy trucks required for the move. This delay will only be for a few days unless more rain occurs. Stitch No.1 will be drilled to depth of 2000 metres or 2 kms with the major objective expected at around 1850 metres.
Icon Energy holds a 100% interest in ATP 626P. The wells are located mid way between the townships of Goondiwindi and Moonie just off the Newell Highway.

Wall Street advanced Monday as investors undeterred by record oil prices speculated that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates later this week to boost the slow economy and lure more buyers into the troubled credit markets. Crude oil futures soared above $93 a barrel for the first time on the New York Mercantile Exchange Monday after a storm led Mexico's state oil company to suspend about a fifth of its oil production.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by about 4 to 3 on the New York Stock Exchange, where volume came to 1.22 billion shares.
Copper eased, ending two sessions of gains, after a labor dispute was settled in Peru, easing prospects of supply disruptions.
Gold rose to the highest since 1980, approaching $800 an ounce, as crude oil surged to a record and the dollar fell to the lowest ever against the euro.

Bob McNeil, CEO and Chairman commented: "these seven holes were drilled to extend our knowledge of the disseminated gold/silver Weioko system with holes drilled peripheral to previous drill holes and to test above a geophysical Induced Polarization (IP) anomaly approximately 500m north and 200m east of the previously drilled Weioko gold mineralisation. The Weioko prospect is part of a five square km area with extensive and numerous soil gold and arsenic geochemical anomalies and several IP anomalies. The present results are certainly encouraging as they continue to expand our knowledge of this large disseminated and vein gold system, however comprehensive drill testing to define an NI 43-101 resource is unlikely to commence until later in 2008 as cash flow funds become available from the Sinivit Mine."

EAST MUSGRAVE JOINT VENTURE TENEMENTS GRANTED
A$630,000 exploration program approved
Goldsearch Limited (ASX: GSE) is pleased to announce the granting of two exploration licences within its East Musgrave Joint Venture.
East Musgrave covers more than 17,000 km2 of highly prospective tenements within the South Australian portion of the Musgrave Block. The Joint Venture consists of Independence Group holding a 51% interest, and Goldsearch with 49%. BHP Billiton can earn a 65% interest through funding exploration expenditure of A$25 million or delivering a bankable feasibility study within ten years. The Joint Venture is targeting sulphide nickel deposits in Giles Complex mafic-ultramafic rocks similar to the Nebo Babel magmatic system discovered by BHP Billiton (then WMC Resources) in 2000.
Goldsearch director Mr John Percival commented, "We are pleased to have our first Musgrave tenements now granted, as we can begin exploration activities in earnest. The region is among Australia's most under-explored, despite evidence for the presence of nickel, copper and other base metals throughout the block."
The Primary Industry and Resources, South Australia (PIRSA) granted the first two exploration licences (from a total of 13 tenement applications), being EL3954 and EL3955 respectively.
EL3955 covers the high priority Wanka Wanka target, where previous drilling of three diamond core holes by Kennecott in the 1970’s intercepted minor magmatic sulphide mineralisation in the 10km long, differentiated mafic-ultramafic Wanka Wanka dyke. Currently a petrological and whole rock geochemical study is being conducted on samples from portions of this core recently recovered from the PIRSA core library.
Re-logging of core from hole WW3 identified magmatic sulphides over three metres on the margin of the Wanka Wanka dyke. Re-assaying of this mineralisation returned elevated metal values up to 2.16m @ 0.25 g/t combined platinum, palladium and gold with elevated copper (322ppm) and nickel (1345ppm) from 173.5m. The presence of magmatic sulphides and these elevated assay results suggest the largely unexplored Wanka Wanka dyke represents a potentially fertile magmatic system. The dyke is therefore interpreted as having potential for concentrations of high grade nickel and platinum group element (PGE) bearing sulphides.
In anticipation of the granting of the tenements, the Joint Venture partners have agreed to initial exploration programs and exploration budgets. Currently BHP Billiton has approved, subject to relevant work program approvals, an initial budget of AUD$630,000. Work programs will comprise reconnaissance exploration, first pass regional geochemistry and gravity surveys along with detailed geochemistry and EM geophysical surveys over priority targets. These programs will be conducted by Independence Group as the managing partner.
