PETROHUNTER ENERGY SIGNS OFF ON DEAL WITH LAKES OIL N.L.

Lakes Oil N.L. (Lakes Oil, ASX listing code "LKO"), based in Melbourne, announces that Lakes and PetroHunter Energy Corporation of Denver, Colorado ("PetroHunter Energy") have now signed an agreement under which they will jointly develop Lakes Oil's on-shore petroleum prospects in the Gippsland and Otway basins in Victoria, Australia.

As previously advised:

• PetroHunter Energy Corporation, a public US company whose shares are traded in the US, and its subsidiary Sweetpea Petroleum Pty. Ltd. ("Sweetpea"), are part of a group of companies headed by Marc Bruner. These companies have exploration activities in the USA, Europe and the Beetaloo Basin in Northern Territory, Australia.

• The group is committed to acquiring and developing unconventional oil and gas prospects worldwide, and has at its disposal a select number of experts who are among world leaders in the extraction of oil and gas from unconventional reservoirs.

• Under the arrangements, PetroHunter Energy or its subsidiary company Sweetpea will initially farm into 33 1/3% of Lakes Oil's permits by spending US$7 million in Lakes Oil's permits. In addition, PetroHunter Energy will subscribe for US$3 million in new shares in Lakes Oil at 1.5 cents.

• PetroHunter Energy will also have the right to increase its position in Lakes Oil's permits with two further 16 2/3% farm-in tranches of US$10 million each, exercisable within 12 months and 24 months respectively.

• The agreement provides that PetroHunter has the right to participate in the same proportion in any permits which are non-contiguous to existing permits acquired by Lakes within 2 years, and any contiguous permits acquired by Lakes moving forward, and PetroHunter has a first right of refusal in other permits acquired by Lakes within 5 years

• PetroHunter Energy is to assume Lakes Oil's position as operator of the permits where relevant, and will be invited to nominate a representative to the Lakes Oil Board.

Rob Annells, Chairman of Lakes Oil N.L., stated, "It is pleasing to advise that the first phase of the Joint Venture has been completed satisfactorily and the capital injection of US$3 million is expected before the end of the month."

Lakes Oil believes that the onshore Gippsland permits will become a valuable new asset for Victoria, strategically placed for new industry and low emission power generation.

NEW GUINEA GOLD

NEW GUINEA GOLD CLOSES SECOND TRANCHE OF ITS 12 MILLION UNIT PRIVATE PLACEMENT

Vancouver - 19 April, 2007. New Guinea Gold Corporation (" NGG" or the "Company") announces that it has closed the second tranche of a private placement arranged through its agent, Bolder Investment Partners, Ltd. ("Bolder" or "The Agent") in an offer (the "Offer" or the "Offering"), of up to 12,000,000 units of the Company at $0.42 per unit (the "Units") to raise up to $5,040,000. The first tranche of the private placement formally closed with the issuance of 10,112,500 Units for gross proceeds of $4,247,250 and was announced in a press release dated March 23, 2007. Gross proceeds from the second tranche amount to $792,750 with the issuance of 1,887,500 units.

Each Unit consists of one common share and one half of one non-transferable common share purchase warrant (the "Warrant"). Each whole Warrant entitles the holder to purchase one additional common share of the Company at a price of $0.55 for a period of two years from the completion of the financing, subject to early expiry provisions as follows: Once resale restrictions on the second tranche Units have expired on August 20, 2007 and upon the Company's shares trading at or above a weighted average trading price of $0.90 for 20 consecutive trading days, the Company may give notice that the Warrants will expire 30 days from the date of providing such notice (in writing to Warrant holders and via a news release).

Bolder will receive a cash commission of 7.5% of the gross proceeds raised, of which Bolder has elected to receive 44,018 units at an ascribed value of $0.42 per unit in partial payment. Bolder will receive Agent's Warrants (the "Agents Warrants") entitling the Agent to purchase 187,000 common shares of the Company, for a period of two years from the date of the closing of the Offering, April 19, 2007. Each Agent's Warrant will be exercisable into one (1) common share of the Company at $0.55.

All securities issued in the second tranche of this private placement are subject to resale restrictions expiring August 20, 2007.
Net proceeds of this financing will be used for working capital for the Sinivit project, to fund a second drill at the Imwauna project and for general corporate purposes.

TRADING OF BEACONSFIELD GOLD SHARES TO RESUME ON ASX

Beaconsfield Gold (ASX: BCD) is pleased to announce that trading in its shares will resume on the Australian Stock Exchange ("ASX") on Friday 20 April 2007 when the market opens.

Trading has been suspended at the Company's request since the tragic incident at the Beaconsfield Mine on 25 April 2006 because of the uncertainty associated with the resumption of operations.

There has been considerable recent progress towards the resumption of gold production at the Beaconsfield Mine:

• Sill driving in ore (stope development) resumed in early April 2007 following the completion of a Case for Safety for that activity and the subsequent notification from Workplace Standards Tasmania ("WST") rescinding parts of the notices issued after the Anzac Day incident;
• A limited quantity of gold bearing ore has already been hoisted and a small ore stockpile has been established. It is planned to start treating ore through the processing plant later this week, enabling gold to be poured during April;
• The Ore Production (Stoping) Case for Safety for the Eastern Domain has now been completed in conjunction with Coffey Mining Pty Ltd and submitted to Safe Production Solutions Pty Ltd for an independent peer review. The finalised document is expected to be forwarded to WST before the end of April; and
• Work is well advanced on the Ore Production (Stoping) Case for Safety for the Western Domain, being the final requirement for full production to resume throughout the Beaconsfield Mine.

In light of these significant advances, the Directors of Beaconsfield Gold now consider that there is sufficient technical and economic certainty over the resumption of mining to enable trading in its shares to recommence.

Chief Executive Officer, Mr Bill Colvin, acknowledged the support and understanding of shareholders as the Company and the team at the mine worked through the rigorous processes involved in safely re-opening the mine.

Mr Colvin said that the future for Beaconsfield Gold looked very bright with gold production now resuming as the Company is moving towards 100% ownership of the Beaconsfield Mine and is also planning a significant exploration program both underground and regionally at Beaconsfield, as well as at Stavely in Western Victoria. "Beaconsfield is a high grade orebody being mined by an excellent team and the future potential is very exciting," Mr Colvin said.

WALL STREET

Wall Street traded mostly higher Tuesday, briefly pushing the Dow Jones industrials into record territory after a rise in home construction and a mild reading on consumer inflation encouraged investors to buy.

The technology-dominated Nasdaq composite index and the Russell 2000 index of smaller companies slipped, showing that most of the stock market's gains were isolated in larger companies that are more impervious to economic stumbles.

Many investors were heartened by the Commerce Department's report that March housing starts rose 0.8 percent -- a feeble rise compared with February's 7.6 percent advance, but much better than the drop investors expected. Building permits also rose. Stocks have experienced many tumultuous weeks this year due to worries about the financial troubles of the subprime lending sector spilling into the already sluggish housing market.

Crude oil fell in New York on speculation that an Energy Department report tomorrow will show U.S. refineries increased operating rates for a fifth week.

Copper futures rallied Tuesday, with concerns over potential supply disruptions from Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold's Grasberg mine in Indonesia lifting prices for the benchmark May contract to its highest level ever in New York.

Tin prices hit a record on Tuesday while copper surged through the $8,000 a tonne level for the first time in eight months, encouraging a strong performance by other base metals.

Tin rose 2.6 per cent to $14,900 a tonne after hitting a record $15,000 in the session, amid continuing concern about supplies from Indonesia.

Gold in New York fell from an 11-month high on speculation that a six-week rally was overdone. Silver also declined.

WALL STREET

Wall Street began the week with a strong start Monday as better-than-expected profits at Citigroup Inc. and a healthy increase in consumer spending renewed investors' optimism about the economy. The Dow Jones industrials soared more than 100 points.

Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by more than 2 to 1, on increased volume, on the New York Stock Exchange.

Copper led industrial metals higher in London on speculation that a protest at the world's second- largest mine producing the metal and disruption to deliveries from Argentina may curb supplies. Native Papuan workers at Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc.'s Grasberg mine in Indonesia plan a rally on April 18 over wage demands that may disrupt output. Xstrata Plc, the world's fourth-largest copper producer, said on April 13 that shipments from an Argentinean mine were delayed by flooding.

Gold in New York rose for the second straight session, extending a rally to an 11-month high, as a decline in the value of the dollar increased the appeal of the precious metal as an alternative investment.

DRILLING HAZELWOOD-1 WELL

Lakes Oil N.L. ("LKO") advises that at 6:00 AM today the Hazelwood-1 well was at a depth of 1,623 metres and drilling ahead.

The Hazelwood-1 well is designed to test gas which has been observed in the Strzelecki Formation in previous wells drilled in the area and to test the Rintoul's Sandstone which is expected to be encountered above basement.

Lakes Oil N.L. currently holds a 50% interest in the permit but is earning an additional 25% interest by 100% funding of the drilling of this well and the Boola Boola-1 well. AusAm Resources will then hold a 25% interest in the permit.

SHAREHOLDER UPDATE

Dear Shareholder

This letter and the accompanying Shareholder Update are to inform you of the various breakthrough developments that have occurred in recent months and to explain the exciting prospects which are now in front of Beaconsfield Gold.

Mining of gold ore at the Beaconsfield Mine recommenced in early April 2007 and first production of gold bullion from the ore treatment plant is due in several weeks time.

Recommencement of trading of Beaconsfield Gold shares on the ASX is expected shortly.

On 23 January 2007, Beaconsfield Gold announced two major initiatives in consolidating the ownership of the Beaconsfield Mine:

• the agreement to purchase the inter-company debts of the Allstate group, making Beaconsfield Gold the largest creditor of the Allstate group; and
• the agreement to acquire Newmont’s shareholding in Allstate to move Beaconsfield Gold to 83% of Allstate and 91% beneficial interest in the mine.

Following on from those two agreements, on 27 February 2007, the creditors of the Allstate group voted in favour of a proposal from Beaconsfield Gold to bring the Allstate companies out of administration. Beaconsfield Gold is now providing loan funds to the Allstate group during the re-start phase at the mine and Beaconsfield Gold executives now manage the Allstate group and the Beaconsfield Mine on a day-to-day basis.

Many benefits will arise from the consolidation of mine ownership. Apart from obvious savings in overheads, consistent focus can now be placed on mine operating performance and costs. However, possibly the greatest benefit will be that Beaconsfield Gold will be able to design and carry out an extensive regional exploration program at Beaconsfield. The Tasmania Reef has now been shown to contain over 2.0 million ounces of gold from surface to the depth of the current resources and the Mine Series host beds trending to the NW and to the SE of the mine represent one of the most compelling gold exploration targets in Australia.
