Wall Street put an upbeat spin Friday on the government's report that the nation lost more than half a million jobs last month (533,000 jobs lost in November compared with the 320,00 that economists forecast). Stocks reversed early losses and closed sharply higher as the data raised hopes that Washington will again step in to help the economy.
Five stocks rose Friday for every one that fell on the New York Stock Exchange, where trading volume came to a light 1.62 billion shares compared with 1.47 billion traded Thursday.
For the week, the Dow fell 2.2 percent, the S&P 500 declined 2.3 percent and the Nasdaq fell 1.7 percent.
Light, sweet crude fell $2.86 to settle at $40.81 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Concerns about the economy and weakening energy demand have kept oil prices near four-year lows.
Gold fell to the lowest in two weeks as the US dollar rose, eroding the appeal of the precious metal as an alternative investment. Silver also declined.

ELOISE COPPER MINE - FURTHER UPDATE
Further to the announcement of 3 December regarding the rock failure in a portion of the main production stope at the Eloise Copper Mine in Queensland, Breakaway Resources Limited (ASX: BRW - “Breakaway”) has received a further update from the mine owner, FMR Investments Pty Ltd (FMR).
After investigating the area of failure, FMR’s management have determined that it has had a localised impact on the Eloise Deeps shrink stope and the contained ore block but will require standard practice remedial action to ensure that the problem remains isolated in the future. The investigation concluded that any ore losses that could be directly related to the failure and the remedial actions required to quarantine the area can be minimised. FMR has estimated that this remedial work would take 2-3 months to complete before full production could resume.
After taking into consideration a number of factors but in particular the substantial recent reductions in the copper price, which have impacted on all copper producers, FMR has advised that the most commercial approach for managing the Eloise Mine and maximising its future value, is to cease mining activities and place it on temporary care and maintenance. Accordingly, FMR has today terminated its mining contract with Barminco Limited with effect from 2 January 2009. FMR believes that keeping the mine on care and maintenance can be achieved at a manageable cost to FMR and that, subject to an adequate improvement in the copper price, it may become economically feasible to recommence mining in the short to medium term. ............ - Web Site

Zhao Dong Production Increase
ROC's wholly-owned subsidiary, Roc Oil (Bohai) Company, advises that oil production from the Zhao Dong Block, Bohai Bay, offshore China averaged over 30,000 BOPD for the second half of November. This production rate was approximately 85% above the average rate of 16,055 BOPD achieved from the block during 3Q 2008.
The production increase is the result of development drilling in the Extended Reach Area ("ERA") of the C and D Oil Fields and the C4 Oil Field from the new conductor pod and pipeline terminal facilities commissioned in October 2008. During October and November, oil production was established from seven wells that were drilled from the new facilities: six wells in the ERA of the C and D Oil Fields (ROC interest: 24.5%); and one well in the unitised C4 Oil Field (ROC interest: 11.575%).
While the production rate has been significantly increased, the underlying natural decline in production at Zhao Dong will continue. The final two wells in the 2008 Zhao Dong drilling campaign are being completed and are planned to be brought into production in early December. Development drilling has been suspended for the winter period and is planned to recommence in 1Q 2009.
Construction and fabrication of OPB, the second processing platform to be located at Zhao Dong, continues and installation and commissioning is scheduled for 2Q 2009. - Web Site
Drilling Update: Banda East Appraisal Well, Offshore Mauritania
Roc Oil (Mauritania) Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of ROC, advises that since ROC's last drilling update release for the Banda East-1B appraisal well on 26 November 2008, work is in progress to suspend the well. Due to operational difficulties, gas deliverability testing of the Banda East-1B well will not take place during this drilling campaign.
The Banda Oil and Gas Field is in approximately 300 metres of water depth and spans PSC Area A and PSC Area B. - Web Site
Board Movements
ROC advises that Mr Adam Jolliffe and Dr Douglas Schwebel have resigned as non-executive Directors of the Company, effective 3 December 2008. As part of the Board restructure Mr Jolliffe is leaving after 10 years of service as a non-executive Director. Dr Schwebel is leaving having accepted a full-time executive position in the oil industry.
ROC is also pleased to advise that Mr Robert Léon has been appointed as a non-executive Director of the Company, effective 3 December 2008.... - Web Site

Operational Advice Leonard #1-23H (10% working interest)
Samson Oil & Gas Limited (AMEX: SSN /ASX: SSN) announced today the planning of completion operations associated with the Leonard #1-23 H has been finalized.
Surface facility construction will begin on December 4th and is scheduled to be completed by December 12th. Hydraulic fracture stimulation is scheduled for December 19th with ensuing flow testing of the well to occur immediately thereafter.
The Bakken Formation gained significant prominence after the United States Geological Survey (USGS) published an estimate in April this year that the unit could recover between 3.0 and 4.3 billion barrels of oil. The USGS has determined that the Bakken Formation represents a “continuous” oil accumulation and that advances in completion technology have increased by 25 times the estimated recovery potential since the 1995 USGS study.......... - Web Site

A period of relative calm on Wall Street ended Thursday as stocks tumbled in the final hour of trading on growing investor anxiety ahead of the government's November employment report.
The major indexes each slid more than 2.5 percent, including the Dow Jones industrial average, which dropped 216 points after rising in seven of the last eight sessions.
Investors are worried that Friday's employment report would show a further deterioration in the job market; employers have already cut 1.2 million jobs in the first 10 months of the year, leaving the unemployment rate at a 14-year high of 6.5 percent. Economists expect the Labor Department will report that the jobless rate rose to 6.8 percent in November and that companies cut another 320,000 jobs.
The Bank of England slashed its key lending rate by 100 basis points to 2.0 per cent on Thursday, the lowest level in more than half a century amid mounting evidence that Britain faces a deep recession.
Crude oil fell below $44 a barrel to the lowest price since January 2005 and gasoline futures dropped under $1 a gallon as the recession in the U.S., Europe and Japan cuts fuel consumption.
Copper tumbled to the lowest closing price since May 2005 as plunging equity markets spurred concern that the global economic slump may deepen.
Gold prices fell for the second straight day as commodities and equities tumbled on concern the global recession will deepen. Silver also dropped.

GREEN CEMENT PRODUCTS INVESTMENT & COMMENCEMENT OF REGULAR PRODUCTION
FUTURE HIGH GROWTH IN PROSPECT
Minerals Corporation is very pleased to announce the successful completion of the field trials of its innovative new building blocks which use its newly developed “green” cement technology. Regular production of this product will commence soon in New South Wales to be followed by the other eastern States and New Zealand in Q1 2009. Based on positive test result feedback earlier this year, significant export markets are anticipated for Q2 2008, with production trials being prepared for next quarter
MSC subsidiary, Australian China Clays Limited, (ACC), supplies the kaolin feedstock for this technology which has been developed and independently tested for a number of end use applications. Already identified customers cover sales volumes well in excess of the existing ACC plant capacity of 175,000 tpa. Fortunately the particular processing plant circuits needed to increase production of these products can be readily expanded at relatively low cost, and can and will be funded from future cash-flow.
ACC has contracted with the technology provider, Descrete Holdings Pty Limited to facilitate a staged working capital funding facility for DHPL of $500,000 to assist with this business roll-out for an agreed a 5% equity + 5% equity option investment in DHPL, which under certain agreed future circumstances values the DHPL business at A$60 million. ...... - Web Site

BLOCK "M" BRUNEI AIRBORNE GRAVITY MAGNETIC SURVEY COMPLETED
Tap Oil's wholly owned subsidiary Tap Energy (Borneo) Pty. Ltd. has completed an airborne geophysical survey in Block M (Tap 39%, operator) onshore Brunei Darussalam.
Location
Block M covers an area of approximately 3,011 km2 (see attached map) in the Baram Delta Basin and is the largest onshore permit in the country. The Block contains the Belait oil and gas field, but is under explored having not seen a concerted exploration effort during the past 20 years.
Progress
The survey commenced on 27 October 2008 and was acquired by Sander Geophysics of Ottawa, Canada who specialise in airborne geophysical surveys. The total program included 3,617 flight kms in a 1 km by 4 km grid across the entire permit. Both gravity and magnetic data were acquired and the program has now been successfully concluded.
Tap Comment
This is the first phase of the exploration program which will see 2D and 3D seismic acquisition commence in early 2009 with at least 2 appraisal wells drilled on the Belait structure in 2009. The airborne survey will provide a comprehensive block-wide data set to further the assessment of the exploration potential of the area.
Tap has closely worked together with PetroleumBrunei to achieve this early commencement of our exploration efforts and we look forward to the 2009 activities. - Web Site

Wall Street withstood another stream of bad economic readings Wednesday, closing significantly higher as investors shuttled between pessimism about the recession and hopes that the nation might start seeing relief soon. The major indexes saw big swings throughout the day, but all closed up more than 2 percent, giving the market its second straight advance.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by about 3 to 2 on the New York Stock Exchange, where volume came to 1.3 billion shares.
The day's downbeat news included a drop in productivity, a pullback in the services sector and the Federal Reserve's finding of worsening economic conditions across the country.
Crude oil prices continued to fall after an Energy Department report showed that U.S. refineries curbed operating rates as the recession crimps fuel demand.
Copper prices fell to the lowest since July 2005 on mounting concern that the global recession may further weaken demand for the metal used in pipes and wires.
Freeport McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. cut projected copper production and sales for the next two years as it plans to halve estimated 2009 capital spending and suspend its dividend amid the plunging prices for copper and molybdenum.
Gold fell in New York as the US dollar strengthened and deflation concerns mounted, reducing the appeal of the metal as an alternative investment. Silver also declined.

High Grade Trench Assays from the Mul Mul Prospect to 3.7m Grading 17 g/t Gold Equivalent
(including Peak Grades to 1m of 18.2 g/t Gold, 502 g/t Silver, 5.02% Copper, 1.38% Lead and 133ppm Molybdenum and 1.7m of 14.6% Zinc)
Frontier Resources Ltd is pleased to announce that significant precious and base metal assays have been returned from the initial exploration program conducted at the Mul Mul massive sulphide Prospect (EL 1596 - Jimi), in the highlands of Papua New Guinea.
Frontier's trench channel sampling at Mul Mul has demonstrated high-grade polymetallic mineralisation in several trenches up to 16m approximate true width, within an open ended 850m long soil anomaly.
Very good prospectivity is indicated.
Weighted assay average results from samples perpendicular to strike and sub-vertically include:
The mineralisation contains the minerals sphalerite, chalcopyrite, pyrite, covellite, bornite, galena, tetrahedrite, tennantite and electrum in a silica-barite matrix. - Web Site

Mine Continues to be Unaffected by Thai Political Changes
ASX Release
Yesterday, it was reported that three of the political parties which form the coalition government in Thailand were ordered to be disbanded by the Thai Constitutional Court.
Kingsgate believes that the operations at the Chatree mine will continue to be unaffected by the potential changes to the current Thai coalition government. The Chatree mine has operated for seven years under four different governments and no stoppages have occurred in the past due to political changes or changes of government.
As recently announced, the Chatree North mining lease permitting process has been completed and the ramp up in mining activity was accelerated with the mine returning to full capacity during the next quarter. The Company remains on track to deliver on its production forecast of 100,000-140,000 ounces gold for the financial year to June 2009. - Web Site
62 metres at 3.2% Nickel Extends Lounge Lizard
Kagara Ltd is pleased to announce a further significant nickel intersection from the T4 position at Lounge Lizard. Niton XRF surveying of the intersection in hole LFPD18W3W3W1 has returned 62.00 metres averaging 3.2% nickel including three higher grade zones of 10.00 metres at 7.5% nickel, 12.3 metres at 5.2% nickel and 4.48 metres at 9.2% nickel.
The zone correlates well with hole LFPD18W2W1 located 50 metres north along strike which returned 76.60 metres at 3.3% nickel in a similar geological setting. A further 50 metres south along strike hole LFPD18W3W1 which although drilled down dip confirmed the presence of massive and disseminated sulphides and averaged 1.3% nickel over a down hole length of 129.35 metres and included a high grade section of 12.55 metres at 5.7% nickel.
High grade nickel sulphides have now been intersected over an area of approximately 120 metres of strike by at least 150 metres down dip with an estimated true width of 20 to 40 metres. Further infill drilling to test down dip of hole LFPD18W3W3W1 is underway. Kagara aims to outline a reserve at Lounge Lizard by the first quarter of next year.
The current resource at Lounge Lizard contains 61,000 tonnes of nickel and includes a high grade resource of 263,000 tonnes at 6.40% nickel. The current high grade mineralisation intersected in the T4 position will add significantly to the high grade resource inventory at Lounge Lizard. - Web Site

In a session that showed more indecision than conviction, the stock market rebounded Tuesday from the previous day's massive decline. The Dow Jones industrials rose 270 points after fluctuating sharply, and all the major indexes rose more than 3 percent.
Investors wary about the economy drew solace from Ford Motor Co. Chief Executive Alan Mulally, who said the automaker has enough cash to make it through 2009 and might not need government help. Rival General Motors Corp. said late in the day that it needs $12 billion in government loans to continue operating; the news briefly shook the market, but stocks rebounded before the close.
Investors got an additional lift after the Federal Reserve said it will extend the life of key programs aimed at loosening the credit markets and restoring stability to the financial sector.
Advancing issues outpaced decliners by a 3 to 1 basis on the New York Stock Exchange, where consolidated volume came to 5.79 billion shares, about even with Monday.
Crude oil tumbled, capping a decline of more than $100 from July's record, on speculation the U.S., the world's largest energy consumer, may be in the longest slump since World War II.
Copper futures fell to a one-week low in New York as stockpiles rose to the highest level in more than four years, increasing concern supplies will outpace demand.
Gold rose, rebounding from the biggest decline in eight months, as the US dollar dropped, boosting the appeal of the precious metal as an alternative investment. Silver also gained.

Company Strategy and Planned Activities 2009
OVERVIEW
Deep Yellow (DYL) retains its strongly held belief that the prospects for very significant growth in nuclear power will continue to improve - notwithstanding present credit and financial market difficulties - and that this will have a positive effect on the medium and long term demand for, and price of, uranium.
DYL has in excess of A$50 million in cash plus additional liquid assets and has no debt, and will commence 2009 in a financially favourable position. A prudent decision to preserve funds at this stage of the global economic cycle with a clear focus on its advanced projects in Namibia and in the Mt Isa region, will result in a reduction to the current rate of expenditure and will limit reconnaissance exploration programmes.
The extensive drilling in Namibia (totalling approximately 140,000 metre to date) based mainly on areas previously explored in the 1970s and 1980s, will be completed in December 2008 and the Company will release the resulting JORC resource numbers as they become available over the coming months. The initial 2009 drilling programme will concentrate on extending newly discovered mineralisation and further drilling of known mineralised areas.
The Company's switch from reconnaissance and regional exploration to a more focused resource analysis and pre-development strategy in both Namibia and Australia requires a different technical skill set and has necessitated retrenchment of a number of employees in both locations. Nonetheless the Group has sought to retain as many of its core personnel as possible to ensure that its planned activities and switch of focus to the advanced projects can be managed and continued in as effective and efficient a manner as possible.
The Company will continue assessing acquisition opportunities in areas near its operational bases in Namibia and the general Mount Isa region in Queensland.
The exploration, development and administration expenditure will be at a rate that will ensure that the longevity of the Company is preserved.- Web Site
NE Waller - Pitchford 2 Drilling Update
The operator, AYCO, has advised that the Pitchford #2 well spudded on 28 November 2008. Current operations at the well are drilling ahead at 3048'.
The well, a planned 7100' Yegua test, is being drilled by Black Creek Drilling, Inc and is expected to take approximately ten days to drill.
The Pitchford #2 prospect is mapped as a counter regionally dipping fault with a significant upthrown structural closure in the Eocene Cockield and Yegua intervals. Both horizons are important oil and gas producers in the immediate area. Reservoir quality and thickness are assured at this location. Both sand sequences are regional in deposition and are present in nearby wells. Pipeline facilities exist within one mile of the drill location. - Web Site

Mibango Joint Venture Dissolved
IMX Resources NL (ASX:IXR) advises that the Mibango Joint Venture in Western Tanzania with Lonmin PLC will be dissolved, effective from 31 March 2009 with IMX now retaining 100% interest in the tenements.
Lonmin has funded and directed exploration at Mibango, which was focussed on Platinum Group Elements (PGE), since entering into the joint venture in March 2002. The results of the exploration has provided a comprehensive data base for the project with demonstratable existence of high grade, massive, remobilised nickel sulphides, some with significant PGE values, although to date the widths have been generally less than one metre.....- Web Site

WA-351-P 3D SEISMIC SURVEY NOW COMPLETE
Tap Oil Limited ("Tap") provides the following information on the Aragon Multiclient 3D Seismic Survey in WA-351-P.
Location
The Aragon 3D survey is located in permit WA-351-P within the Exmouth Plateau, approximately 120km north-northwest of North West Cape and 170km west of Barrow Island (see location map). The survey area of approximately 3,500 km2 will provide 3D coverage of most of WA-351-P. Water depth ranges from approximately 1,000 m to 1,200 m.
Progress
Acquisition of the seismic survey commenced in August 2008 and has now been completed. It was acquired by WesternGeco, a seismic acquisition and processing contractor, using a combination of two vessels, the "Western Trident" and the "Geco Searcher".
Tap Comment
This survey will provide 3D seismic coverage over most of this highly prospective permit, which is located on trend with the giant Io/Jansz gas field and several more recent discoveries made in the adjacent Hess operated permit, WA-390-P, immediately to the north. Current mapping on 2D seismic data has identified numerous leads with direct indications of hydrocarbons on the seismic data, giving the permit LNG-scale resource potential. Fast track data should be available by the start of 2009, with final data due in April 2009. These data are expected to mature a number of attractive prospects suitable for drilling in 2009-10. - Web Site

The stock market suffered one of its worst days since the financial meltdown Monday, slicing 680 points off the Dow Jones industrial average as Wall Street snapped out of its daydream of a rally and once again faced the harsh reality of a recession. The Standard & Poor's 500 stock index, one of the broadest market gauges, lost nearly 9 percent.
Monday brought additional bad news: Manufacturing had dropped to its worst levels in 26 years and that construction spending fell by a larger-than-expected amount in October.
Erasing any lingering doubts, there was also finally an officially declared recession -- in progress in the United States since December 2007, according to the National Bureau of Economic Research, the nonprofit group of economists that classifies business cycles.
The price of oil fell sharply after the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries decided not to cut production over the weekend and as investors bet slowing economic activity would hurt demand. Light, sweet crude dropped $5.15 to $49.28 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Copper prices fell as global manufacturing contracted, heightening concern that demand will wane for the metal used in appliances, cars and electronics.
Aluminum fell to a three-year low as signs of weakening demand from factories around the world pushed all industrial metals lower on the London Metal Exchange.
Gold tumbled the most in eight months on speculation that the slumping global economy will damp demand for commodities. Silver plunged more than 8 percent.
