Wall Street capped a huge week with a sharp advance Friday after the government's employment report for September and its revision of August's data cooled the market's fears of a recession. The Standard & Poor's 500 index, the measure most closely followed by market watchers, reached a new closing high.
The Labor Department's report that employers added 110,000 jobs in September -- essentially what analysts had expected -- reassured Wall Street that the job market wasn't pulling back sharply as was feared a month ago (the August payrolls data was updated to show a gain of 89,000 jobs compared with an earlier estimate of loss of 4,000 jobs!). Though the data appeared to lessen the likelihood of an interest rate cut when the Federal Reserve meets Oct. 30-31, investors were relieved that the economy doesn't appear headed for a precipitous slowdown.
The gains left stocks sharply higher for the week. The Dow added 1.2 percent, while the S&P 500 2 percent and the Nasdaq advanced 2.9 percent. The Russell 2000 posted the biggest gains, however, jumping 4.9 percent.
Bond prices fell sharply as investors interpreted the jobs data as evidence against a rate cut. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note, which moves opposite its price, climbed to 4.64 percent from 4.53 percent at Thursday's close.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by more than 3 to 1 on the New York Stock Exchange, where consolidated volume came to 2.93 billion shares compared with 2.66 billion traded Thursday.
Crude-oil futures closed lower Friday to mark a modest loss for the week after the U.S. dollar found support from the September employment report.
Copper was little changed, erasing earlier declines, as a strike entered its fourth day in Peru, disrupting supply from a country that is the world's third- largest producer of the metal.
Gold futures finished higher on Friday, as the dollar lost some steam after initially rallying after the September employment report showed in line gains for the month and big upward revisions of previous months. Silver was little changed.

Sugarloaf - Kennedy #1H Well
Aurora Oil & Gas Limited (ASX:AUT, "Aurora") advises that at 6am Texas time on the 4th of October, the Kennedy #1H exploration well, located in the onshore Gulf Coast Basin in Texas, USA was drilling ahead at a depth of 9,975 feet (3,040 metres). The proposed total depth for this well is 17,570 feet Measured Depth.
Sugarloaf - Sugarloaf-1 Well
Since our last report on the 27th of September repairs to surface equipment have been completed and tubing has been run in preparation for flow testing the first (deepest) zone.
Aurora, through its wholly owned US subsidiary Sugarloaf Oil & Gas, LP, has a 20% interest in the Sugarloaf Project which includes the Sugarloaf-1 and Kennedy #1H wells
North Belridge 26-2H Well
At report time (0600 California time on the 4th of October) the operator was running tubing and a packer into the well to continue with flow test operations.
Prior to running tubing, the well was flowing through casing at a daily rate of approximately 48 barrels of oil and 548 barrels of mostly formation water.
Gawler Resources Limited (ASX:GRL, "Gawler")
Gawler provided a production update in relation to the High Island A-268 gas and oil field to the ASX on the 3rd of October.
The field is presently producing 15.5 million standard cubic feet of gas and 264 barrels of condensate per day from two wells. Details of the individual wells are set out as follows:
Well A-1 Production
Well A-1 continues to produce approximately at 9.0 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, however condensate production has risen from approximately 220 barrels per day to 250 barrels per day as the well continues to clean up. The well remains on the same choke size (16/64") and no formation water is being produced.
Well A-2 Production
Well A-2 continues in clean-up flow to sales from the lower reservoir zone.
On the current choke setting (13/64") the well has achieved a stabilised production rate of approximately 6.5 million standard cubic feet of gas per day and approximately 14 barrels of clean condensate per day. The well is also producing approximately 65 barrels of completion fluids per day which is expected to decline over the coming days as the well continues to clean up.
Following the sale of wholly owned subsidiary Cottesloe Oil & Gas, Inc (owner of a 30% interest in HIA-268A "High Island") to Gawler, Aurora became Gawler's largest shareholder with a shareholding that currently equates to approximately 29%.
The High Island field is located in 169 feet of water offshore Texas in the Gulf of Mexico. The Company holds a 30% working interest in the High Island field (which is subject to a 5.4% "back-in" following the recovery of Gawler's initial investment through production sales). - Web Site

High-Grade Copper and Gold Mineralized Zone Discovered at Ivanhoe's Cloncurry Project in Australia
SWAN Copper-Gold-Uranium Discovery Significantly Expands with Six Drill Rigs at Work
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA --- Robert Friedland, Executive Chairman of Ivanhoe Mines, and Douglas Kirwin, Ivanhoe Mines Executive Vice-President, Exploration, announced today that continued exploration drilling at the company's Cloncurry Project in the Mt. Isa District of northwestern Queensland, has resulted in the discovery of a significant high-grade zone of copper and gold mineralization on the western margin of the large, open-ended SWAN Iron Oxide Copper Gold (IOCG) Project.
In January, 2007, Ivanhoe announced the discovery of a series of IOCG systems with associated uranium, one of which is the SWAN Project, at the company's 2,400-square-kilometre Cloncurry Project. Further exploration of the SWAN system has resulted in a substantial expansion of the deposit's mineralized zone.
Drill hole MEHQ071130 on the western margin of the SWAN system intersected 90 metres grading 2.02% copper and 1.3 g/t gold from 582 metres to 672 metres, including 54 metres grading approximately 3.04% copper and 1.89 g/t gold. The intersection is missing a 3.5-metre section of high-grade core resulting from loss during drilling of the very friable composition of the intense chalcopyrite-rich mineralization. As such, this zone is currently being re-drilled and recovery improved by using a triple-tube core-barrel to preserve the entire high-grade intercept. Additional drilling will define the attitude and dip of the high-grade zone and also the true thicknesses of the drill intersections. - Web Site

UPDATE BROWNS OXIDE PROJECT COST ESTIMATE AND SCHEDULE - BEGINNING OF SULPHIDE PROJECT
OXIDE PROJECT UPDATE
Further to the company's release on 30 August, Compass advises that detailed assessment of the Browns Oxide Project schedule and Capital Cost Forecast has been carried out.
Estimates advised in May for the Process Plant Construction were Capital Costs of $83 M plus $21 M for first fills, pre-production operating costs, project owners' costs etc.
The directly comparable cost estimate is now $106 M plus $28 M, being an increase of 29%. It is now forecast that plant commissioning will commence in February 2008. Obviously, every prudent effort will be made to improve upon this schedule and the above costs.
Isolated schedule concerns emerged late in July. However, it was believed they would be addressed by the introduction of additional specialist project management staff. The subsequent resignations of key project management staff necessitated the establishment of a new project management team during August. The new team uncovered previously unknown deficiencies in some areas of plant construction and in project management procedures. This has led to corrective action, remedial works in some areas, and revision of project management systems. A progressive peer review of critical aspects of the project has been implemented.
Schedule slippage has been defined by a re-assessment of all tasks and inputs required for project completion, and the need for additional and remedial work identified by the new management team. The cost estimate increase resulted largely from the additional works and the additional construction time. The cost and schedule changes have also been unavoidably impacted by the highly competitive conditions in the mining industry equipment and construction personnel markets.
In addition to the costs outlined above, other costs that were always part of the project and require funding have been and will be incurred in the following areas and will be shared with HNC:....- Web Site

KENTOR GOLD INTERSECTS HIGH GRADE GOLD
Savoyardy Drilling Update
Kentor Gold has received strong assay results from the first hole of a 23 hole diamond drilling programme at the Savoyardy Gold Project in Southern Kyrgyzstan. Fire assay results have been received for hole SVD_PD_09 for the 24 metre interval from 76 metres down hole depth to the end of the hole.
High grade results of 14 metres at 15.1g/t gold from the drill hole SVD_PD_09 support the envisaged mineralised lode model. The significant SVD_PD_09 intersections are shown in Table 1. SVD_PD_09 intersected the mineralised structure approximately 20 meters below the level of the exploration adit. The true thickness of the intercept is interpreted to be about 8 metres. Significantly the grades were relatively consistent with 11 of the 14 samples grading between 10g/t and 30g/t Au.
The core is currently being cut and prepared for assay for the remaining 75 metres of hole SV_PD_09 and for the other three completed holes.
"We are pleased to see such positive results so early in the drill program. These results confirm our confidence in the Savoyardy project, and we anticipate more high-grade intersects as the program continues" Managing Director Simon Milroy said. - Web Site

DRILLING REPORT
WELL NAME: Arakubi 1A, PNG
Oil Search reports that as at 0600 on 4 October 2007, the Arakubi 1A well was at a total depth of 3,221 metres and pulling out of hole. Progress for the week was 541 metres.
During the week, both the primary and secondary targets, the Toro Sandstone and the Hedinia and Iagifu Sands respectively, were drilled. Logging-while-drilling information indicates low resistivity in each of these intervals suggesting that they are water-bearing at this location. Dip information suggests that the well is located off the crest of the structure and only a short vertical distance beneath the most likely oil-water contact.
The forward plan is obtain wireline pressure and dip information and assess the results. A recommendation is being made to the Joint Venture for a sidetrack updip to test what may be either a separate structure or a possible extension of a known productive block in the Usano complex.
Arakubi 1A is located in PDL 2, five kilometres east of the Kutubu oil field, but only 2 kilometres from the nearest infrastructure. The well is a re-drill of Arakubi 1, which commenced drilling in mid-2006 but was suspended due to rig problems. Arakubi 1A is being drilled from the same well pad as the previous well, but in a new hole.
WELL NAME: Raheek-1, Egypt
Oil Search reports that as at 0600 hrs Egypt time (+2 hrs GMT) on 3 October, the Raheek-1 exploration well was at a depth of 2,190 metres and drilling ahead in a 12-1/4" hole. Progress for the week was 444 metres.
The Raheek prospect is a tilted horst block in the East Ras Qattara block in the Western Desert of Egypt. The well is targeting the Bahariya and Kharita formations that were found to be oil bearing in the three discovery wells preceding Raheek-1. The planned total depth of Raheek-1 is 3,932 metres.
Raheek-1 is Oil Search's fourth exploration well in an extended drilling programme in East Ras Qattara.- Web Site
Bankable Feasibility Study Commenced
Prairie Downs Zinc Project
Prairie Downs Metals Limited is pleased to announce that it has commenced a Bankable Feasibility Study ("Study") for the Prairie Downs Zinc Project. Abesque Engineering & Construction Limited ("Abesque") has been commissioned to design a 300,000 tonnes per annum processing plant with the capability to expand to 1,000,000 tonnes per annum.
Abesque specialises in the provision of engineering design, construction and project management services to the resource sector including processing of zinc ores. The most recent examples are the construction and successful commissioning of the Jaguar Base Metals Project and the engineering of the Angas Zinc Project, which is also currently under construction on schedule by Abesque.
The Study, which includes design of the process, plant and all related equipment, follows on from a high level scoping study competed in May this year. It will take approximately 6 months to complete with construction expected to take a further 12 months.
Abesque have also indicated that they have access to second hand ball mills that may be appropriate for the processing plant. This option is being investigated further and hence the Company has not yet placed an order for a new mill.
Drilling is continuing at Prairie Downs. Results to date indicate that the current resource of 4.9 million tonnes is only limited by drilling and, as drilling is expected to continue for the rest of the year and recommence early in 2008, it is expected to increase in both tonnage and grade as we head towards production. The target is 10 million tonnes. A Guidance Note is provided below showing the target production schedule and resource grade.
With the commencement of the Bankable Feasibility Study and a growing resource base, Prairie Downs Metals is well on target to become a zinc producer in 2009. - Web Site

Proposed New Funding and Debt Restructuring for View
View Resources proposes to undertake a rights issue to raise $10 million. The Company's major shareholder Austral-Asia Resources and Infrastructural Investments Pty Ltd, a member of the IMC Resources Australia Group ("IMC") has indicated an intention to fully underwrite the proposed rights issue, subject to the terms being finalised and a formal underwriting document being agreed.
In parallel with negotiations for underwriting the proposed rights issue, View Resources is in discussions with IMC in relation to securing a more appropriate debt facility which may include a convertible note to replace the current Investec loan.
Full details of the rights issue and new debt facility (subject to shareholder approval if required) will be announced to ASX in due course
Progressing this new funding via the proposed rights issue and restructuring the current debt facility will allow View to focus on Bronzewing as it completes its ramp up during the December quarter. Forecast production for the quarter is 30,000 ounces, moving Bronzewing into positive cash flows by the end of the calendar year.
In parallel the Company's nickel Joint Venture at Carnilya Hill is also making good progress and is set to start delivery of ore by the end of 2007. This will see View deriving positive cash flows from both operations by mid 2008. - Web Site

Wall Street finished a quiet session slightly higher Thursday as investors awaited the government's September employment report, hoping it will strike a balance between steady growth and more room for interest rate cuts.
Thursday's economic data, which showed a gain in jobless claims and a drop in factory orders, gave investors little incentive to make any big moves ahead of Friday's payrolls report.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by about 5 to 3 on the New York Stock Exchange, where consolidated volume came to 2.66 billion shares, compared with 3.06 billion shares traded Wednesday.
Crude oil rose above $81 a barrel in New York after an Energy Department report showed that fuel inventories unexpectedly dropped last week.
Copper fell, snapping a three-day rally, on concern that slower economic growth will reduce demand in the U.S., the world's second-largest user of the metal.
Gold rose as the US dollar ended a three-day rally against the euro.
The spot Uranium price dropped US$10.00 to US$75.00/lb due to the availability of spot supplies.

Galoc Project Execution Begins - Drill Rig On Hire
Nido Petroleum is very excited to announce that drill ship 'Energy Searcher' has come 'on hire' to the Galoc Oil Project. This is an exciting time for both Nido and the Philippines as it marks the beginning of the first offshore development in the Philippines for almost seven years.
First oil is expected in early 2008 and cashflow from the Galoc development will support Nido's biggest exploration drilling programme to date in the second half of 2008.
I am also pleased to announce that on 30th September Nido's next seismic acquisition campaign will commence. This exploration programme is the largest and, at 100-120 days, also the longest undertaken to date. It reflects the potential indentified in Nido's Palawan exploration portfolio in the 2006 exploration campaign. - Web Site

Valentine-1 Update and Spudding of Stokes Bay-1
....The Stokes Bay-1 well is planned as a test of the extent and reservoir development of the gas
accumulation intersected by the Point Torment-1 well and will be drilled as a deviated well with a total depth
of approximately 2,500 metres. Point Torment-1 was drilled in 1992 and subsequently flowed gas at a rate
of up to 4.3 million cubic feet of gas per day from the Carboniferous aged Anderson Formation sandstones.
Subsequent tests of these sands produced ambiguous information on potential volumes and reservoir
quality and the Stokes Bay-1 well is designed to provide a definitive test of the reservoir quality and extent
of the accumulation.
The Valentine-1 well intersected very strong gas shows and indications of porosity in the Anderson and
Laurel Formations downdip from the target interval in the Stokes Bay-1 well. This is a very positive
indication for Stokes Bay-1 which is targeted to intersect these objectives within closure, some 90 meters
updip from the Valentine-1 intersection. - Web Site

Supreme Court Decision on Mindy Mindy
Consolidated Minerals Limited (ASX: CSM, AIM: CNM, FSE: CMN) advises that the Supreme Court of Western Australia today handed down the reserved decision in the action commenced by Mr Derek Ammon against the Company and Pilbara Iron Ore Pty Ltd ("PIOPL"). The action was in respect of the Mindy Mindy iron ore tenements held by PIOPL and the parties' rights under a joint venture agreement relating to exploration licence 47/1140 ("E47/1140").
The Court has dismissed the claims made by Mr Ammon in their entirety.
As a consequence, the existing joint venture arrangement under which PIOPL has the right to earn an 80% interest in tenement E47/1140 remains in place. Under the earn-in provisions of the joint venture, PIOPL has incurred the required expenditure and is currently undertaking the required feasibility study, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
Mindy Mindy provides a potential longer term iron ore development option for the Company, subject to the outcome of feasibility studies currently under way. - Web Site

Sale of Ashland and MB Prospects for US$46,350,000
Sundance is extremely pleased to announce that it has reached agreement with Antero Resources Corporation ("Antero") to sell Antero the Company's 10% working interest (on an averaged basis) in its Ashland Prospect in Oklahoma and its 6.25% working interest in its MB Prospect in Montana for a total sum of US$46,350,000 (AU$52,000,000).
The sale, which arose as a result of the Company's mandate with Macquarie Securities (USA) Inc. (7 June 2007, ASX Release) represents a significant monetization of two of Sundance's seven US oil and gas prospects, and clearly demonstrates the value being attributed to such onshore assets in the US. The Ashland and MB Prospects constitute about 10% of Sundance's total US oil and gas acreage; their sale leaves the Company with more than 68,000 highly prospective acres in the US. Additionally, Sundance's ownership interest in most of those remaining assets is far higher than it was in either Ashland or MB (e.g. Sundance owns 100% of its Phoenix Prospect and approximately 50% of its three Indiana Prospects)..... - Web Site

HIGH-GRADE INTERSECTIONS AT NIL DESPERANDUM
Recent drilling at the Nil Desperandum prospect has successfully intersected high-grade copper-gold mineralisation. The prospect is within the wholly owned Bushy Park tenement (EPM 14366), located approximately 68 kilometres south-east of Mt Isa in Queensland.
HIGHLIGHTS
A new structural interpretation of the Nil Desperandum copper deposits has been developed, based upon geological mapping of old mine workings and previous drilling results. Recent drill testing of the deposits intersected high-grade copper-gold mineralisation, confirming the new interpretation, and demonstrating that further drilling could significantly up-grade the status of this project.
High-grade mineralisation on the main northeast trending fault structure is present in lenses from 2 to 30m thick and averaging about 10m. These high-grade zones occur within a 40 metre thick zone of mineralisation with a strike length of up to 400 metres.
High-grade mineralisation was also intersected beneath the Lady Maria open-pit on a northwest-trending shear zone. Although no production records are available, it appears that substantial tonnages of copper ore were mined from the deposit.
Notable new drilling intersections include:

Wall Street extended its pullback Wednesday as investors waited to see how well corporate earnings and the job market have held up in an uneven economy (September employment report due Friday).
Declining issues outnumbered advancers by about 5 to 3 on the New York Stock Exchange, where volume came to 1.25 billion shares compared with 1.27 billion traded Tuesday.
Oil prices fell for the fourth session, settling down 11 cents at $79.94 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, after the government reported an unexpected increase in crude oil inventories.
Copper rose to the highest price since May 2006 as a strike at Southern Copper Corp., the world's fifth-largest producer of the metal, threatened to cut supplies.
Lead hit an all-time high on supply tightness - partly due to a fire at Xstrata's Mount Isa zinc-lead concentrator in Australia.

WOOLLYBUTT-4H DEVELOPMENT WELL SUCCESSFULLY FLOW TESTED
Tap Oil Limited ("Tap") provides the following information on the Woollybutt-4H development well.
Location
The Woollybutt-4H development well is located in permit WA-25-L at a surface location of latitude 20°57'16.17"S and longitude 114°52'06.14"E in the Barrow Sub-basin. The well has been sidetracked from the existing Woollybutt-4 well.
Progress
The Woollybutt-4H well has now been successfully flow tested as per the completion programme. Preparations are currently underway to temporarily suspend the well in a ready state for connecting it to the northern lobe production facilities early next year. Following this, the rig will move to the Woollybutt-6 appraisal well location to investigate the possibility of more producible reserves at that location.
Tap Comment
Woollybutt-4H intersected the target oil reservoir as prognosed with the well completed and flow tested as per expectations. It will now be tied into the northern lobe facilities early next year with production from the field expected to be approximately 14,000 bopd. Should Woollybutt-6 be successful, it too will be tied in immediately and will augment the above production rate estimate. - Web Site
MAITLAND APPRAISAL WELL UPDATE CARNARVON BASIN
Tap Oil Limited ("Tap") provides the following information on the Maitland-2 and-3H wells which spudded on 6th September 2007.
Location
The Maitland-2 appraisal well is located in permit WA-33-R at a surface location of latitude 20°32'34.59"S and longitude 115°09'47.19"E in the Barrow Sub-basin, approximately 40 kilometres north-west of Barrow Island and 5 kilometres south-east of the John Brookes field. Maitland-3H is a horizontal side track drilled from the Maitland-2 location.
Progress
The vertical well, Maitland-2, and the core hole, Maitland-2CH have now been successfully drilled with core over the reservoir section recovered. A horizontal sidetrack, Maitland-3H has subsequently been drilled to its total depth penetrating more than 500 metres of the reservoir in the horizontal section and prepared for testing. The testing operations however have been interrupted due to water influx, believed to be coming from an open zone above the reservoir interval and current operations are remedying this.
Tap Comment
The results of the planned flow test are not yet known however the drilling data is consistent with the pre drill prognosis. Specifically, a good 500 metre horizontal section through the gas charged reservoir has been achieved. The water influx understood to be coming from above the reservoir is a mechanical isolation issue associated with the well completion and is expected to be remedied in the next few days. Following this the flow test programme will be commenced. - Web Site

Jean Freeborn-1 spud on 20 September 2007, and has presently drilled to a depth of 8621 feet. High levels of gas have been encountered from sandstones in the Queen City Formation. Gas has been continuously circulated out of the well bore as the mud weight has been increased to control the well. Gas levels in excess of 6000 units have been recorded. The Queen city is the main secondary target in this well. While it is too early to determine the commercial nature of this gas occurrence the presence of hydrocarbons is very encouraging.

LOOKOUT WASH FIELD
The Directors of Samson Oil & Gas Limited ("Samson") advise that the Operator of the Lookout Wash Field has shut in the field due to the low gas price that has been set for October, which was US$1.11 per MMBTU at Colorado Interstate Gas (CIG), the price point for this gas. The shut in will allow scheduled maintenance to be conducted in the field compression system, and it is expected that firmer prices in November will see the field back on production for the foreseeable future.
Samson will lose around US$30,000 in revenue as a result of this shut in, but will be compensated through the two fixed forward swaps that it has in place for this gas. These fixed forward swaps are set at US$6.03 and US$6.15 per MMBTU respectively and will yield US$250,000 this month. The Jonah Field remains in production for October and gas will be sold from that field priced at US$1.22 per MMBTU.
The expected production from these two fields and the respective hedges that are in place are set out in the following table and show that Samson's expected revenues from these two fields along with the hedge will amount to US$285,000 compared to a budgeted revenue from these fields for October of US$348,000 which is a drop of 18%. - Web Site

Coyote-September 2007 Gold Production Exceeds Budget
The Directors are pleased to announce that September 2007 gold production at the Coyote Gold Project was 2,361 ounces which exceeded the budget of 2,286 ounces.
September 2007 gold production is the first time monthly production has exceeded 2,000 ounces and reflects the higher ore tonnage and grade being achieved as the open pit deepens.
Gold production has been steadily increasing in recent months with the September 2007 production level exceeding the Company's targeted annualised production rate of 25,000 ounces per annum from open pit mining. Production will continue to be ramped up to a minimum 50,000 ounces per annum by 30 June 2008 following the mining and treatment of high grade (+12g/t gold) underground ore which is planned to be accessed by the March 2008 quarter. The development of the underground portal and decline is on schedule to commence by the end of November 2007.

Wall Street ended mixed Tuesday, selling off large companies' stocks but buying up those of smaller companies as investors cashed in gains from Monday's big rally.
Wall Street was only slightly fazed by the National Association of Realtors' report Tuesday that its seasonally adjusted index of pending sales for existing homes fell 6.5 percent in August from July and 21.5 percent from a year ago. The data suggest sales of existing homes will probably keep declining in the coming months -- bad news for the economy, but good news for those hoping for another interest rate cut.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by about 9 to 7 on the New York Stock Exchange. Consolidated volume came to 3.11 billion shares, down from 3.26 billion shares Monday.
The US dollar rebounded from record lows versus the euro, and recovered some ground against the pound and Canadian and Australian dollars. Gold, which has recently hit multi-decade highs, tumbled under pressure from the rising US dollar.
Copper jumped to the highest in almost five months after Southern Copper Corp. mine workers in Peru started a strike, threatening supplies of the metal used in pipes and wires.
Lakes Oil N.L. ("LKO") advises that the company's Share Registrar, Computershare Investor Services have advised that the Rights Issue by prospectus has received applications from 1,671 shareholders subscribing for a total of 303,702,582 shares at 1 cent per share to date. Directors have resolved to allot these shares. Issuer Sponsored Holding Statements and Chess Advices will be dispatched in due course.

ACTIVITY UPDATE
Stokes Bay-1, Onshore Canning Basin, Western Australia (FAR 8%)
Sidetrack commences - Drilling ahead at 1,226mMD
FAR has been advised by ARC Energy Limited that, after setting cement plugs, Valentine-1 was sidetracked as Stokes Bay-1 at 0930 hrs on 3 October from 975mMD. Current operations at the well comprise drilling ahead in 8 ½" hole at 1,226mMD.
The Stokes Bay-1 well is planned as a test of the extent and reservoir development of the gas accumulation intersected by the Point Torment-1 well and will be drilled as a deviated well with a total depth of approximately 2,500 metres. Point Torment-1 was drilled in 1992 and subsequently flowed gas at a rate of up to 4.3 million cubic feet of gas per day from the Carboniferous aged Anderson Formation sandstones. Subsequent tests of these sands produced ambiguous information on potential volumes and reservoir quality and the Stokes Bay-1 well is designed to provide a definitive test of the reservoir quality and extent of the accumulation.
The Valentine-1 well intersected very strong gas shows and indications of porosity in the Anderson and Laurel Formations downdip from the target interval in the Stokes Bay-1 well. This is a very positive indication for Stokes Bay-1 which is targeted to intersect these objectives within closure, some 90 meters updip from the Valentine-1 intersection. - Web Site

More Significant Mineralisation Intersected at Pungkut
Oropa Limited ("Oropa") is pleased to announce the return of significant gold assay results from drilling at its Pungkut gold project in Indonesia.
Current drilling operations are being conducted to the west of the Sihayo 1 North resource to follow up on high grade out-cropping jasperoid, which averages 7.39 g/t Au over 11 outcrop and channel chip samples. Drillhole SHDD093, located in the south-eastern portion of that northwest trending jasperoid unit has intersected the following gold mineralisation:
SHDD093: 19m @ 3.98 g/t Au from 2m.
Drillholes SHDD094 and SHDD095 have similarly intersected northwestern extensions of that same jasperoid unit but assay results over selected sample intervals are still awaited from the laboratory. This limited drill program is designed to test and increase the extent of gold mineralisation west of the Sihayo 1 North Inferred Resource....... - Web Site
Raven Completion Results
Since the last report of Wednesday 23 July 2007 on the Spinks Middlebrooks #11-1 well, we are pleased to report that the operator has successfully perforated and hydraulically fractured all three productive zones from the electric log and is currently flowing natural gas into the sales line.
The well flowed natural gas from the three zones collectively at a rate of 1.2mmcf per day (480mcf per day net to Pryme) with the primary third zone currently flowing close to 1mmcf per day and increasing as the load water from the fracture stimulation is produced off the formation. The three gas zones have a gross sand section of 329 feet with 27 net feet that is productive. The closest analog to our third (primary) zone has produced 2.7Bcf from this interval from a two foot section. We have approximately four feet of interval, by comparison. - Web Site

Wall Street began the fourth quarter with a huge rally Monday, sending the Dow Jones industrial average to a record close of 14,087.55. Stocks were buoyed by a growing belief that the worst of the credit crisis has passed.
Advancing issues led decliners by a 3 to 1 basis on the New York Stock Exchange, where consolidated volume rose to 3.26 billion shares from 2.92 billion shares on Friday.
Copper gained on concern a strike planned for tomorrow in Peru will cut supplies at Southern Copper Corp., the world's fifth-largest producer of the metal.
Gold rose, extending gains to a 27- year high, on speculation a slowing economy may force the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates further, boosting the appeal of the metal as an alternative investment to U.S. assets.
BEACONSFIELD GOLD MINE TO RETURN TO FULL PRODUCTION FOLLOWING THE RESCISSION OF ALL GOVERNMENT NOTICES
The Beaconsfield Mine expects to return to full production rates during the December 2007 quarter following an extensive review of all its mining operations and the withdrawal of all restrictions on the mine's operations by Workplace Standards Tasmania ("WST").
In May 2006 WST issued notices that required the mine to prepare Cases for Safety before mining could recommence. On the basis of the Ore Production (Stoping) Case for Safety for the Western Zone and the three previously accepted Cases for Safety prepared by the Beaconsfield Mine for the staged recommencement of mining, all of these notices have been rescinded by WST.
The Beaconsfield Mine is now operating under the same regulatory environment as other mines in Tasmania.
Under the Ore Production (Stoping) Case for Safety for the Western Zone, the mine will use a new, remotely-monitored and operated mining method which means no one will enter the orebody during the production phase.
A series of drives will be developed parallel to the orebody to provide a gallery for drilling and firing the stopes. This will also allow access for remotely controlled loaders to extract the ore and subsequently backfill the stopes. Using this method, it is planned to extract 100% of the high grade ore from the Western Zone.
Chief Executive Officer, Mr Bill Colvin, said that the workforce and the Australian Workers Union would be fully briefed on the new method prior to recommencement of mining in the Western Zone........
