WALL STREET

Stocks plunge to 4-month low on disappointing employment report and drop in euro; Dow falls 323 points

Stocks fell to their lowest level in four months Friday after the government said hiring remains weak and another European country warned its economy was in trouble.

The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 323 points to close below 10,000. It was the lowest finish since February and the third-worst slide of the year.

Major indexes all lost more than 3 percent. The drop pushed the market back into what's called a "correction," or a decline of at least 10 percent from its April high.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 37.95, or 3.4 percent, to 1,064.88. The index is down 12.5 percent from its 2010 high.

The Nasdaq composite index dropped 83.86, or 3.6 percent, to 2,219.17. It's down 12.3 percent from its high of the year.

Fewer than 300 of the nearly 3,000 stocks that trade on the New York Stock Exchange rose. Consolidated volume came to 6.3 billion shares compared with 5 billion Thursday.

For the week, the Dow lost 2 percent, its third straight weekly drop. The S&P 500 index fell 2.3 percent and the Nasdaq dropped 1.7 percent.

Interest rates fell after traders moved money into the safety of Treasurys and the US dollar. The US dollar surged to its highest level against the euro in more than four years Friday.

The government's May jobs report came as an unpleasant surprise for investors who had grown a little more upbeat about the domestic economy the past few days. The Labor Department said private employers hired just 41,000 workers in May, down dramatically from 218,000 in April and the lowest number since January. The news made it clear that the economic recovery isn't yet picking up the momentum that investors have been looking for.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for Hungary's new prime minister described the country's economy as being in a "grave" situation. He also said his government is ready to avoid a crisis like the one being faced by Greece.

Overseas, Britain's FTSE 100 fell 1.8 percent, Germany's DAX index fell 1.9 percent, and France's CAC-40 dropped 2.9 percent.

Crude was on a zigzag course all week, dropping Friday after the government's jobs report showed companies remain reluctant to hire -- damping prospects that a rebounding economy means more oil and gasoline demand. Benchmark crude for July delivery lost $3.10 to settle at $71.51 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Base metals fell again for a fourth day on Friday, with copper hitting its lowest price since October 2009, after disappointing U.S. jobs data added to doubts about the global economy.

Zinc plunged to a 10-month low, nickel and tin hit their lowest prices in nearly four months, aluminum sank to a near eight-month low, and lead crumbled to its lowest in almost a year.

On the plus side, LME copper stocks, which indicate demand trends, fell 1,300 tonnes to 473,000 tonnes -- their lowest level since late December -- down from 6-1/2-year highs at 555,075 tonnes in mid February.

Gold rose as safe-haven buying resumed amid the steep sell off in equities and worries about European sovereign credit, with Hungary the latest nation said to be facing a debt crisis. Gold for August delivery settled $US7.70, or 0.6 per cent, higher at $US1217.70 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Meanwhile, platinum, palladium and silver all tumbled with equities as worries about the economy weighed on sentiment for industrial demand. Further pressure came from fears Europe's debt problems will slow its economy, plus efforts so far this year by China to cool its growth.

STUART PETROLEUM (STU)

Stuart Drilling This Month

Oil producer Stuart Petroleum Limited (ASX code: STU) has contracted Hunt Rig # 2 to drill the first
of a planned 3 well programme in the Cooper Basin. Stuart has retained the right to vary the drill
programme if necessary, under the terms of a 1+1+1 drilling option and drilling is planned to
commence on or about 25 June.

Stuart plans to produce and sell in excess of 350,000 barrels of oil for the financial year 2010-
2011, significantly greater than forecast 2009-2010 financial year production of approximately
190,000 barrels.

Worrior 7
Hunt Rig # 2 is expected to spud oil development well, Worrior 7, (Stuart 70%) on or about 25
June. Worrior 7 will be drilled adjacent to producing wells Worrior 4 and Worrior 1 to a total
depth of approximately 1660 metres. It has been designed to access untapped reserves in the
eastern sector of the field and to thereby increase the productivity, cash flow and profitability of
the field.
Worrior 7 is expected to convert approximately 300,000 barrels (100% JV) of undeveloped
reserves into developed reserves. The well is programmed to contribute approximately
100,000 barrels (100% JV) of production in financial year 2010-2011.

Kerinna 2
Kerinna 2 (Stuart 100%) will be drilled updip of discovery well Kerinna 1 to a total depth of
approximately 1860 metres, to access a prognosed 260,000 barrels of mean un-risked
recoverable oil in the Hutton Sandstone. Kerinna 1 showed this formation to contain high
quality reservoir sands and Kerinna 2 is expected to add usefully to Stuart’s reserve base and
production profile.
Stuart plans to reuse production facilities which it owns and are not presently in use in order to
minimise the time between well completion and first production.

Acrasia 5
Oil appraisal/development well, Acrasia 5, (Stuart 75%) will, subject to Joint Venture approval,
be drilled adjacent to producing wells Acrasia 1 and Acrasia 3 to a total depth of approximately
2350 metres. This well is designed to access a prognosed 380,000 barrels of mean un-risked
recoverable oil in the southern sector of the Acrasia Oilfield. It is expected to add significantly
to reserves in the field and to the Company’s production profile.
Each of these wells is close to existing production facilities and the Company plans to bring newly
producible oil on-stream without delay. Drilling is being financed by existing funding capacities. - Web Site

Tomingley Gold Project Progress Report

Project economics improving

As the Tomingley Gold Project Definitive Feasibility Study
proceeds to finalisation it is showing improvements in the
project economics from extended mine life and more robust
returns from higher gold prices.

The open pit mining review has indicated recovery of
approximately 300,000 ounces of gold over a five year period.

A preliminary feasibility study for underground mining below
the open pit at Wyoming One has demonstrated potential for
recovery of about 80,000 ounces over 30 months. The study is
being advanced to definitive feasibility standard to form part
of the base case development for the TGP.

The combination of the open pit output, with low grade
stockpiled open pit ore and Wyoming One underground ore
gives the Project potential to produce approximately 400,000
ounces over a seven year life.

A 3,500m RC drill program will commence shortly to test the
potential for additional open pitable resources at South
Caloma.

Diamond core drilling below the proposed Caloma pit has
identified multiple mineralised zones with some higher grade
intercepts:

HOLE NO. INTERSECTION
PE641D 7.1 metres grading 12.9g/t gold from 236.9 metres
including 2.0 metres grading 40.7g/t gold from 239 metres
PE645D 11.9 metres grading 2.52g/t gold from 355.2 metres
including 4.4 metres grading 4.76g/t gold from 358 metres

CARNARVON PETROLEUM (CVN)

Thailand Operations Update

On 20 May 2010 Carnarvon advised ASX that Pan Orient, the
Operator of the L44 permit in Thailand, had received a request
from PTT, the Thailand national oil company, to curtail crude oil
deliveries to the PTT operated Bangkok refinery for 24 hours.
This request by PTT was a precautionary measure instituted in
response to recent events in the Thailand capital, Bangkok. Upon
receipt of notice from PTT, Pan Orient instituted a reduction in
field production rates to 5,600 BOPD in order to have the option
to continue producing for a three to four day period into
approximately 24,000 barrels of onsite oil storage capacity.

On 21 May 2010 Carnarvon announced to ASX that Pan Orient,
the Operator of the L44 permit in Thailand, was notified that
crude oil deliveries were able to be resumed to the Bangkok
refinery on 21 and 22 May restricted to between the hours of 7
a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Government of Thailand announced curfew was in effect
until May 23, at which time the Company re-commenced
deliveries to the refinery as normal.

Disruption to Carnarvon’s Thailand operations has been minimal,
without incident and was limited to less than 48 hours during
which time oil was produced into tank storage at modestly
restricted rates and experienced no impact to its development
drilling program in the L44 permit.

There are currently no limitations or restrictions on deliveries to
the refinery in Bangkok. At no time was Carnarvon’s production
materially impacted and eventually all stored crude oil was
trucked to the refinery and sold under normal operating
arrangements. Currently the field is producing around 6,500
bopd (2,600 bopd net to Carnarvon). - Web Site

FERRAUS (FRS)

Mirrin Mirrin Drilling Results

These results, from exploration holes drilled since March 2010, are outside the defined resource area and
indicate that mineralisation is continuous along strike and down dip to the north, with low to medium grade
mineralisation to the south interpreted as detrital material.

The resource area for Mirrin Mirrin identified on Figure 1 below, is a product of 2009 drilling. Exploration
efforts this calendar year have built upon that success.

A number of the results (see Table 1 below), at a greater than 55% Fe content cut-off, have excellent “ore”
grade interceptors with the best drill hole result identified as a 64 metre intersection at 59.53% Fe.

Exploration RC drilling at Mirrin Mirrin is currently underway. Drilling for this next phase is scheduled to be
completed by mid June, ready for resource assessment in July.

Chief Executive Officer, Mike Amundsen, said that these results add further valuable information about the
type and location of mineralisation at Davidson Creek. - Web Site

WALL STREET

Stocks closed higher for a second day Thursday after traders found room for optimism in mixed economic reports.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose about 6 points a day after leaping 226. It was the first back-to-back gain for the Dow since late April.

Stocks climbed on reports that business at the nation's services companies grew in May and that the number of people seeking first-time jobless claims slipped for a second week. The gains faded at times as the day wore on, but stocks recovered by the close as traders looked to the Labor Department's May jobs report on Friday.

In economic news, the Labor Department said first-time claims for unemployment benefits fell by 10,000 to 453,000 last week. The drop coincided with a report from payroll company ADP that said private employers added 55,000 jobs in May.

Both reports fell just short of economists' forecasts, but still showed some improvement in the job market.

About two stocks rose for every one that fell on the New York Stock Exchange, where consolidated volume came to 5 billion shares compared with 5.1 billion Wednesday.

Oil prices ticked higher Thursday after inventory reports showed supplies fell much more than expected. Crude oil for July delivery rose 47 cents to $73.33 a barrel.

Copper prices fell the most in a week on concern that demand for the metal will decline in China, the world’s biggest consumer.

Comex gold futures closed lower again Thursday, as investor risk appetite has somewhat increased this week amid more stable world financial markets--or at least no fresh, major developments that have further unsettled investors. This has put modest downside price pressure on gold, some of which is profit-taking from recent gains. August Comex gold closed down $12.30 an ounce at $1,208.30.

Correction of Announcement - Nachingwea JV

The Company would like to advise that the announcement released this morning entitled
‘Nachingwea JV Cdn$4 Million Exploration Programme Underway’ contains a typographical
error. The discovery of this typographical error has resulted in this amended announcement,
which is provided in full below. Details of the correction are noted below.

The following paragraph was included on page two (2) of the initial release made this morning:

“At Lionja, approximately 8km south of Ntaka Hill, 2009 hole LID09-055 intersected 7.75m at 91%
Ni and 0.20% Cu, from nickel sulphide mineralisation near the base of an ultramafic sill at
approximately 200m depth. In 2010, approximately 1,000 metres of diamond drilling is planned to
further explore the basal contact of the mineralized sill.”

The Company incorrectly stated 91% Ni as opposed to the correct figure of 0.91% Ni. The
amended paragraph has been provided below and should read:

“At Lionja, approximately 8km south of Ntaka Hill, 2009 hole LID09-055 intersected 7.75m at
0.91% Ni and 0.20% Cu, from nickel sulphide mineralisation near the base of an ultramafic sill at
approximately 200m depth. In 2010, approximately 1,000 metres of diamond drilling is planned to
further explore the basal contact of the mineralized sill.”

KAGARA ZINC (KZL)

Kagara to Mine Vomacka Polymetallic Deposit

Kagara Ltd is pleased to inform shareholders that on the back of the recent successful raising
and imminent listing of Mungana Goldmines on ASX, the Company has reached agreement
with the Guangdong Foreign Trade Group (GFTG) to develop the Vomacka polymetallic
deposit at Thalanga, near Charters Towers in far North Queensland.

Vomacka contains a probable reserve of 743,000 tonnes grading 4.7% zinc, 1.4% lead, 1.8%
copper,46 g/t silver and 0.5 g/t gold and will be processed through the Thalanga treatment
plant over an 18 month time frame and expected to commence in October 2010.
The development will result in Kagara’s zinc production increasing from current levels of
46,000 tonnes to 55,000 tonnes in financial year 2010/2011 to 70,000 tonnes in 2011/2012
together with incremental increases in copper and lead production.

GFTG will advance A$20 million for prestripping and plant refurbishment to be repaid out of
cash flow from the project. Zinc, lead and copper concentrates will be sold through off take
arrangements with GFTG and Transamine on standard commercial terms and recoveries of
metal to concentrate are expected to be 81%, 57% and 73% respectively. Prestripping of
Vomacka will commence as soon as final EPA approval is granted and on completion of mining
in March 2012, it is expected that ore will be mined from the West 45, Orient, Waterloo and
Liontown polymetallic deposits (containing a combined total of 3.1 million tonnes grading
8.8% zinc, 2.5% lead, 0.9% copper, 40g/t silver and 0.6g/t gold) and processed through the
Thalanga treatment plant.

CONQUEST MINING (CQT)

Conquest Announces Takeover Offer for North Queensland Metals
Conquest Mining Limited (ASX: CQT) (“Conquest”) announces it intends to make an off-market takeover offer (the “Offer”) for all of the shares in North Queensland Metals Limited (ASX: NQM) (“NQM”). Under the terms of the Offer, Conquest will offer NQM shareholders 0.5 of a Conquest share plus 10 cents cash for every NQM share held, which values NQM at approximately $58 million or $0.29 per share1.

The Offer represents a substantial and attractive premium of:

  • 29% to NQM’s closing price on 2 June 2010 (the last trading day prior to this announcement); and
  • 37% to the volume weighted average price of NQM shares on ASX for the month prior to this announcement.

The major shareholder of NQM is supportive of the Offer and has entered into a pre-bid acceptance agreement with Conquest covering a 19.9% shareholding in NQM.

The Offer provides an opportunity for NQM shareholders to monetise a substantial portion of their value in cash, and is also an opportunity to participate in the potential value of the combined company.

By accepting the Offer, NQM shareholders will become shareholders in a larger, growth oriented company which offers:

  • A board with a successful track record of increasing shareholder value
  • Exposure to development of the Mt Carlton project – with Ore Reserves of over 1.15 million ounces gold equivalent2
  • Increased share liquidity and likely better access to capital markets
  • A strong platform for growth
  • Asset and risk diversification

Conquest is a growth oriented company that has the focus and ability to deliver a growth plan to achieve mid-tier market status and to take advantage of the benefits available to a company of this status. Conquest will seek to deliver this growth through successful development of its Mt Carlton project and by acting on consolidation opportunities in the relatively fragmented and poorly funded junior market sector.

GOLDEN RIM RESOURCES (GMR)

Amended Announcement: Golden Rim Acquires Additional Burkina Faso Gold Permits

This is an amendment to the announcement made by the Company on Friday, 28 May 2010.

Golden Rim Resources Ltd (ASX: GMR, Golden Rim) today announced it has finalised agreements to
acquire an additional 2 gold exploration permits (Kourori and Koro-Sud) in Burkina Faso in West Africa.

Golden Rim now has 14 gold exploration permits in Burkina Faso covering an area of 3,220 km2.

All of the permits are strategically located on multiple greenstone belts highly prospective for the
discovery of significant gold mineralisation. They were also selected based on their association with
major mineralising structures (most of the large gold deposits in Burkina Faso have been discovered
near these major mineralising faults) and because they all have active artisanal gold mining sites.

Craig Mackay, Managing Director of Golden Rim, said “following 6 months of effort our strategy to
acquire a large area of highly prospective and under-explored ground in Burkina Faso is proving very
successful,” said Mr Mackay.

“Based on an existing familiarity with its geology Golden Rim continues to review additional opportunities
in Burkina Faso and we expect to finalise additional permit acquisition agreements by the end of the
June Quarter,” he said.

Combined with its gold properties in Mali, Golden Rim now has a quality gold licence portfolio covering
over 3,590km2 in West Africa, which is the fastest growing gold producing region in the world.

Exploration on the Burkina Faso permits will be fast tracked....

Castle Minerals Limited (ASX: CDT) is pleased to announce that a soil geochemical program testing the strike extensions to the Kandia artisanal gold workings in north west Ghana has outlined a +15km long open ended gold anomaly. Assay results for the northern half of the program are still to be received.

Of particular interest is an area south of the Kandia workings that produced a stronger gold response than the Kandia workings themselves. This area exhibits a continuous coherent gold anomaly approximately 300m wide over a 6km strike length with a distinct orientation change at the northern end possibly reflecting an underlying structural change.

WALL STREET

Stocks bounce higher after April homes sales increase 6 percent; Energy shares lead rebound

The stock market rebounded Wednesday following a stronger-than-expected increase in pending home sales and a recovery in shares of energy companies.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose about 226 points, its third biggest gain of 2010. Major indexes recovered the losses they suffered Tuesday shortly before the close, when the government announced criminal and civil investigations into the Gulf oil spill.

The Russell 2000 index of smaller companies rose 19.56, or 3.1 percent, to 660.52.

Oil prices erased losses Wednesday as stocks turned higher, led by a jump in energy shares. Crude oil for July delivery rose 28 cents to settle at $72.86 a barrel Wednesday.

Copper, aluminum and zinc declined on concern slumping property transactions and slowing manufacturing growth in China, the world's biggest metals consumer, may hurt demand for commodities. Lead, nickel and tin also fell.

Real-estate transactions in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen plunged in May as contracts dropped by as much as 70 percent from April, the Shanghai Securities News reported.

Comex gold futures are closed modestly weaker Wednesday, on a corrective, profit-taking pullback from recent solid price gains, and amid a lack of major fresh fundamental news to move the market. A firmer U.S. stock market also worked to provide just a bit more risk appetite for investors, which did put some mild downside price pressure on gold. August Comex gold closed down $4.20 an ounce at $1,220.60.

ORIGIN ENERGY (ORG)

Redback 2 Gas Exploration Well, Northern Perth Basin, Western Australia

Progress and Status:

Origin Energy, on behalf of the L11 Joint Venture, advises that the Weatherford drilling rig 826 is currently drilling the Redback 2 exploration well. This well is being drilled from the same surface location as Redback 1, drilled in 2004.

The target Wagina reservoir was intersected at a depth of 3,861m MDRT# (3,664 metres sub-sea). An initial analysis of log data acquired while drilling indicates the reservoir unit is approximately 14 metres thick and gas charged. These initial results are an encouraging indication of the presence of gas in the structure; however, it is too early to make any comment on the potential size or commercial significance of this accumulation.

At 06.00 hours Western Standard Time today the well had reached a depth of 3,907m MDRT#. Progress for the week was 99 metres.

Bullabulling Gold Project - Structural Study

A study of the structural controls on gold mineralisation and the implications for resource potential and exploration within the Bullabulling project area has been completed by consultant Dr Toby Davis of Impel Geoscience. This work has resulted in the development of a model that, for the first time at this project, links the structural framework associated with the gold deposits to their geometry as defined by the existing drilling data.

The main conclusions from the study are:

  • Structures were mapped in the weathered and primary rocks that define a +6 km long 300m wide structural system that controls the distribution of gold in primary mineralisation (The N-S Bullabulling Trend).
  • Gold mineralisation can be traced through 40m spaced drill sections along the entire length (more than 6 km) of the Trend.
  • Higher grade (3-4 g/t Au) zones within a lower grade halo are located at the intersection of older and younger structures. These zones tend to be continuous over 100s of metres, are 5-20m wide, are open at depth and appear to be systematically repeated along the trend.
  • A halo of low grade gold mineralisation (0.5-1.5 g/t Au) is present continuously throughout the Bullabulling Trend and is open at depth, except where cut by later pegmatites. The Bullabulling Trend comprises a network of ductile high strain zones and folds that were formed by five overprinting deformation events.
  • Gold mineralisation occurred late in the deformation history and was broadly synchronous with the last phase of granite and pegmatite emplacement.
  • Gold deposits are located in all the structures but are especially well developed at the intersection of the older and younger structures, the most important being the Bullabulling Shear Zone.

PANAX GEOTHERMAL

Panax Pursues Brownfield Geothermal Opportunity in
Sumatra and Completes an Indonesia-wide MOU with Bakrie Power

Panax Geothermal Ltd (“Panax”) is pleased to advise that good progress has been made in
advancing its geothermal interests in Indonesia. During meetings last week in Jakarta,
Panax entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) with PT Bakrie Power (“BP”),
regarding joint exploration and development of geothermal resources and reserves across
the whole of Indonesia. PT Bakrie Power is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bakrie Group of
Companies, led by PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (“Bakrie Group”), a publicly listed company
established under the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. In line with Bakrie Group’s interest
in the infrastructure sector, BP was founded in 1994 to pursue opportunities in the power
generation business.

Under the terms of this MOU, Panax will be the operator with a 51% interest, with the
remaining equity being held by BP. The initial focus of this collaboration will be on the
supply of base-load geothermal power to PT Dairi Prima’s underground zinc/lead mine in
Northern Sumatra. The above mentioned MOU will partially replace the earlier announced
MOU with PT Dairi Prima, with the exception of Panax’s right to directly supply the Dairi
Prima mine with geothermal power, i.e. BP will replace Dairi Prima in funding the geothermal
power development costs and share in the future power supply to the mine. - Web Site

WALL STREET

Stocks turn sharply lower in late trading on announcement of BP investigations; Dow falls 113

Stocks took another late-day dive Tuesday after the government said it was starting criminal and civil investigations into the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

The Dow Jones industrial average dropped almost 113 points. Its plunge came shortly before the close and minutes after Attorney General Eric Holder made the announcement. Stocks in energy companies and oil service providers tumbled on the news, and other stocks followed.

Trading was choppy for much of the day before Holder's announcement, a sign that investors weren't sure where to put their money. Investors were juggling worries about Europe's debt problems with upbeat reports on U.S. manufacturing and construction. Construction spending rose by the biggest amount in nearly a decade. The 2.7 percent April gain was the largest since August 2000. That blip upward was expected to disappear now that a homebuyers' tax credit has expired.

About four stocks fell for every one that rose on the New York Stock Exchange, where consolidated volume came to 5.3 billion shares compared with 5.1 billion Friday.

Asian markets fell following a report that China's manufacturing industry slowed last month. Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell 1.4 percent, while Japan's Nikkei stock average lost 0.6 percent.

Oil prices fell below $73 a barrel Tuesday, after downbeat overseas manufacturing data raised concerns that global fuel demand will remain low.

Copper pared losses on Tuesday, as manufacturing and construction data from the United States aided prices, partly offsetting concerns over a slowdown in the pace of economic growth in top metals consumer China.

Comex gold futures closed higher, near the session high and hit a fresh two-week high Tuesday. Risk aversion returned to the market place, which prompted safe-haven buying of the precious yellow metal. Shorter-term technical strength is also rebuilding in gold. August Comex gold closed up $12.60 an ounce at $1,224.80.

Drilling Recommences at Andy Well

Doray Minerals Limited (ASX: DRM) is pleased to announce it has recommenced drilling at its Andy Well prospect, located with the Meekatharra North project (Doray 80%), approximately 45km north of Meekatharra in the Murchison region of Western Australia.

The primary aim of this second RC drilling programme is to test the extents of a potential shallow open pittable gold resource within the high-grade Wilber Zone, down to 100m vertical depth. Doray also plans to test a number of other prospective targets at Andy Well, including the recently announced Southern Zone.

In addition, a select number of diamond holes have been planned for Wilber to gain valuable information about the structure, geology and preliminary metallurgy of the high-grade mineralisation encountered in the Company’s first drilling programme.

It is expected the entire programme will take in the order of four weeks to complete. - Web Site

Exploration Update - Mt Zephyr VMS Base Metals Project

Heron Resources Limited (ASX: HRR) (Heron) is pleased to announce three initial diamond drill holes (ZNDD001-3) intersected massive sulphides at the Company's wholly owned Mt Zephyr Project, located 75 kilometres north-east of Leonora, Western Australia.

The drilling targeted Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) mineralisation associated with a suite of felsic volcanic, mafic and sedimentary rocks. VMS deposits host zinc, copper, lead, silver and gold mineralisation. Three existing VMS mines in Western Australia include Scuddles, Gossan Hill and Jaguar.

Heron Managing Director, Mr Mathew Longworth, said the results from the initial drill holes have encouraged the Company to design a follow up drill program. A detailed review of drill core, geochemistry and alteration mapping is underway.

“These encouraging results indicate the presence of a VMS mineralising system, and augur well for future exploration of the Mt Zephyr project,” Mr Longworth said.

ENVIRONMETAL PROTECTION LICENCE GRANTED FOR OPERATIONS AT THE NEWCASTLE IRON RECOVERY PLANT

Austpac is pleased to announce that the NSW Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water (DECCW) has approved a variation to the Company’s Environmental Protection Licence which will enable the Newcastle Iron Recovery Plant to operate as a waste treatment facility for recycling mill scale and spent pickle liquor thereby producing Austpac Reduced Iron (ARI) and hydrochloric acid for the iron, steel and related industries. The EARS section of the ERMS SR Demonstration Plant is being modified to operate as a waste recycling plant, and the EP Licence variation was essential as the previous licence granted in 2008 was for the production of synthetic rutile.

The upgraded Plant will showcase Austpac’s patented EARS process to industry and will generate a cash flow for the Company. The process is environmentally friendly and produces no solid or liquid effluents. Air emission monitoring will be undertaken to ensure the Plant operates within the stringent limits required by NSW legislation under the Protection of the Environment Operations (Clean Air) Regulation 2002. - Web Site

In March 2010 WestSide and Mitsui announced they would jointly acquire the Dawson CSG fields and Mitsui would have the option to acquire 49 per cent of WestSide’s existing interests in the neighbouring Paranui prospect (ATP 769P) and its new Galilee Basin tenements (ATP 974P and ATP 978P).

New appointments strengthen WestSide's Board to guide next growth phase

Mr Robert Neale and Mr John Clarke have been appointed as Non-executive Directors as WestSide prepares to embark on an exciting new growth phase.

WestSide is only weeks away from taking control of the Dawson Coal Seam Gas (CSG) fields in Queensland’s Bowen Basin and plans with joint-venturer partner Mitsui E&P Australia Pty Ltd to jointly invest more than $50 million over the next two years to increase gas production from the fields.

Mr Neale is the Managing Director and CEO of New Hope Corporation Limited (NHC), while Mr Clarke is the Managing Director and co-owner of Infrastructure Capital Group Ltd (ICG), previously ANZ Infrastructure Services Ltd. - Web Site

The All Ordinaries index was down 25.4 points today.
With the US closed for Memorial Day holiday (tonight) and the UK closed for a bank holiday, the local markets just drifted sideways.

Investors heeded the adage "sell in May and go away'', leaving the market down almost 8% for the month.

KANMANTOO COPPER MINE SIGNS CONTRACT FOR USE OF
RECYCLED TREATED WASTE WATER

Collaboration between Local Government and Industry Results in an Outstanding Environmental Outcome

Hillgrove Resources Limited (ASX:HGO), an Australian exploration and mining company,
advises that it has signed a long term contract with the District Council of Mount Barker
(DCMB) for the supply of recycled treated waste water for use as process water at its
Kanmantoo Copper Mine, 55km east of Adelaide in South Australia.

The Chairman of Hillgrove, Dean Brown, said today “This is great news both for the Mt.
Barker community and the Kanmantoo Project. The arrangement is an innovative example of
how mining companies and communities can cooperate to achieve an outstanding
environmental outcome both at the local and national levels”.

The innovative water contract will generate a revenue stream and cost savings for the District
Council and, importantly, it also eliminates a new draw on the water resources of the Murray
River system.
